The influence of power driven buyer/seller relationships on supply chain satisfaction By: selam, tesfa and wengelawit

Introduction Addresses the empirical examination of the effects of power dynamics in buyer-seller relationships on supplier satisfaction within the context of supply chain management. paper shows how the buyer–seller relationship affects supplier satisfaction satisfaction and power literature

Statement of the problem There are a few researchers that have studied satisfaction in distribution channels ( Hunt and Nevin , 1974; Michie and Sibley, 1985;Raven and Kruglanski , 1970 ). However there no research in supply chain satisfaction. T hus then, the purpose this research is to empirically test the existence of benefits of supplier satisfaction that have so far been conjectured as conceptual ideas from distribution channel research.

Objective to empirically test the influences of supply chain power on supplier satisfaction to establish how the different ‘‘bases of power’’ affect the satisfaction of selling firms investigate how power driven relationships affect supplier satisfaction and measure the effect of power influences on supplier satisfaction in the automobile industry

Conceptual framework

Methodology empirical testing focused on the automobile industry . They employed a quantitative research approach . validated questionnaire (Honda and Daimer Chrysler) 525- 229 respondents Collected data through survey data collection, statistical analysis, and the use of regression models

Hypotheses H1. The degree of relationship has a significant positive effect on supplier satisfaction H2. Supplier performance has a significant positive effect on supplier satisfaction H3. Buyer performance has a significant positive effect on supplier satisfaction H4. Supply chain performance has a significant positive effect on supplier satisfaction

Cont. H1. The degree of relationship has a significant positive effect on supplier satisfaction (+ ve ) H2. Supplier performance has a significant positive effect on supplier satisfaction (- ve ) H3. Buyer performance has a significant positive effect on supplier satisfaction (- ve ) H4. Supply chain performance has a significant positive effect on supplier satisfaction (- ve )

Finding Power-affected buyer/seller relationships have a significant positive effect on both performance and satisfaction: The study found empirical evidence supporting the positive impact of power-driven relationships on supplier satisfaction . The paths between performance and satisfaction were non-significant: Despite the positive influence of power-driven relationships on both performance and satisfaction, the study found that the paths between performance and satisfaction were consistently non-significant. This suggests that while power-driven relationships can enhance performance and satisfaction independently, they do not necessarily lead to a direct relationship between the two.

Recommendation The study highlight the importance of considering power dynamics in buyer/seller relationships within the context of supply chain partnerships. The study emphasizes that power plays a crucial role in shaping supplier satisfaction and suggests that understanding the power-satisfaction link is essential for effectively managing and improving supply chain relationships
