New Panchasheel of the new millennium Never before in the history of mankind, did a country had to feed so many poor and teach so many illiterate and also simultaneously compete with the most advanced nations. Knowledge will not be a mere tool in development, knowledge itself will be developed. It is not information, but insight what matters.(inquiry attitude) Review 1999 says, India ranks first as the source of knowledge workers. The basics need to be set right.

The New Panchasheel I feel confident that the 21st century will belong to India, provided we get back to some basics and set them right, and the time to do this is Now. No matter how hard one thinks, it is clear that only five fundamentals need to be set right. The five point agenda for the new millennium is almost like a new Panchasheel for the new millennium.
CHILD CENTERED EDUCATION Yuvashakti is the real Shakti of the nation. Are our education systems geared to meet this challenge today? (science education). Recast Method -How can we make education child centered? ( learning by doing, by including local content, making self- learning program me, effective teacher). Will teaching and learning in cyberspace replace a classroom?.
IN TEACHER CENTERED LEARNING Students work to achieve curricular objectives. Students complete activities designed by the teacher to achieve academic success. Students respond to positive expectations set by the teacher. Students are given extrinsic motivation like grades and rewards. Students work is evaluated by the teacher.
WOMEN CENTERED SOCIETY Mother is creativity and innovation personified in solving human problems in the family. She represents excellence, morality, equality not in material terms but as a living culture symbol practicing these values. Harsh statistics says- Only 65.46% of the Indian women are literate and 60% of primary school dropouts are girls. Human Development Report 1994 had said,” No country treats its women as well as its men”. The emergence of information technology will play a great role with education reaching the home now. Q) How can the condition of women be improved today?
WOMAN CENTERED SOCIETY Is one where the women will be respected, she will be allowed the full expression of her potential. Medieval Indian Women- Sati, Jauhar , child marriage. Main Problems of India- Malnutrition, Poor Health, Lack of education, Mistreatment, Overworked, Lack of Power, Dowry. Great Reformers- Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar , Mahatma Jyotirao Phule , Mahatma Gandhi. Current Scenario- Art and entertainment, Literature, Corporate Divas, Social saints.
Human Centered Development What are human resources? What type of human resources are for looking for? ( motivated, matured, and disciplined). Who is responsible for the economic development of the country? Primary, secondary and tertiary sectors. We don't want bystander. There has to balance of ecology, environment, economics, equity and ethics . Dignity-respect (self- employed)

Knowledge Centered Society A knowledge worker is simply one who knows why he is doing what he is doing. (farmer, a rural workman, a media man, an artisan and so on). Education for all, food for all, and health for all now we should have knowledge for all. What do you understand by knowledge industry? Not only that knowledge is doubling up in 10years but it is growing in complexity too. Universalisation of primary education is helping in transmitting of knowledge. Knowledge is reaching to rich as well as poor. Q) How can we make knowledge centered society? Farmers, housewife, artisan etc.

Insight is developed through the process of inquiry? How can we have inquiry attitude among students?
What is Innovation? Innovation means the creation of something in the mind. Innovation also means exploiting new technology & employing out-of-the box thinking to generate new value & to bring about significant changes in society.
Innovation is not just the invention of new idea that is important ,but it is actually “bringing it to market “, putting into practice & exploiting it in a manner that leads to new products , services or system that add value or improve quality.

Students have to be confirmed that all businesses want to be more innovative – Innovation leads to wealth creation. even though efficiency is essential for business success , in the long run , it cannot sustain business growth. Management expert Peter Drucker , said that if an established organization, which is this age necessiraly innovation , its not able to innovate ,it faces decline & extinction.
Importance of innovation? Innovation makes a students think in divergent way. Innovation can stand strong in competitions. Innovation & Economic development are closely related. It converts knowledge into wealth. It shifts from a culture of drift to a culture of dynamism .
