NON-PERFORMING LOAN ” A Non-Performing Loan (NPL) is a loan in which the borrower is not making the scheduled payments either of principal, interest or both for a specified period of time , typically 90 days or more. A higher NPL ratio means more bad loans, showing poor asset quality. A lower NPL ratio means the bank is performing better and managing its loans well.
