Shannon facts The Shannon is in Ireland.

The River Shannon is the largest river in Ireland and the British Isles

The Shannon rises in the Cuilcagh Mountains in County Leitrim and flows into the sea at Limerick. The source is called The Shannon Pot.

Counties it flows through:Cavan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Galway, Offaly, Tipperary, Limerick and Kerry

There is a hydroelectric generation plant at Ardnacrusha belonging to the ESB.

Mouth:Shannon Estuary Basin:6060 sq mi (15,695 km) Elevation:100 m(328 ft)

It flows through the provinces of Connacht,Leinster and most of Munster

The river is named after Sionna,a Celtic goddess!
