Duetotheincreasingneedforlightweightvehiclesinrecentyears,highenergydensity
andlightweighthavebecomethedevelopmentdirectionoffuturevehiclepowerbatteries.
Atpresent,therearemanytechnicalroutesfordomesticnewenergyvehiclesintermsof
vehiclebatteries.
Underthecurrenttechnicalstandards,cylindricalbatteries,squarebatteries,and
soft-packbatterieshavebecomerelativelymaturepowercarriersinthefieldofpure
electricpassengervehicles.

Inordertoincreasethecruisingrange,newenergyelectricvehiclesneedalargenumber
oflithiumbatterycombinationmodules.Eachmoduleiscomposedofseveralbattery
boxes,sothequalityofeachbatteryboxhasagreatinfluenceonthequalityoftheentire
batterymodule.Inordertoreducetheweightofthebattery,itisaninevitablechoiceto
use3003h14aluminumplatetomakelithiumbatteryshell.
3003aluminiumsheetbelongstoanaluminum-manganesealloy,andthemainalloying
elementismanganese.Theboilingpointtemperatureofaluminumandmanganeseisnot
muchdifferent,sotherewillbenoproblemssuchasthedeteriorationofweldseamquality
duetotheburningofmetalelementsduringwelding.
3003aluminumalloyhaslowdensityandsoftmaterial,andhastheadvantagesofbeing

usedbymanycompaniesforbatterypackaging.Thedensityofaluminumalloyismuch
smallerthanthatoftraditionalstainlesssteelpackagingmaterials.
3003H14aluminumsheetisusedforsquare
lithiumbatterycase.Inelectricvehicle
manufacturing,3003H14powerbatterycaseisthe
mainmaterialofpowerbatteries.The3003
aluminumsheetforpowerbatteryshellsis
undergoingatransitionfrom"0state"to"H14"
state.Thefundamentalreasonliesinthe
advancementoftechnology.
"Ostate"materialhasthecharacteristicsoflow
productionefficiencyandhighyield.Thematerial
inthe"H14"stateismoresuitableforautomaticandsemi-automaticpunching,andhas
higherproductionefficiency.Therefore,somelarge-scaleandpowerfulpowerbattery
manufacturersarecurrentlyusing3003H14aluminumplate.
Whatarethe3003-h14aluminummechanicalproperties?Itreferstothefinishedproduct
afterthealuminumplateundergoessecondaryprocessingaftertheannealingprocess,
andthencomesoutaftercoldrolling,andisnotsubjectedtoheattreatment.Thestrength
ofthealuminumplateprocessedinthiswaywillberelativelyhigh,butthetensilestrength

isrelativelysmall.Thetensilestrengthof3003-H14isgreaterthan140MPa,whilethatof
H24is240MPa.

5000seriesaluminumfoil
5052AluminiumMagnesiumFoil
Aluminumfoilcontainerwillgraduallyreplaceplasticcontainerandbecomethe
mainstreaminthelightandfastfoodmarket.Aluminumfoilsforcontainerinclude8011,
3003and5052aluminumfoil.5052aluminumfoilismoreexpensivethanthefirsttwo,but
itsperformanceisalsobetter.Thealuminumfoiltrayismostlymadeof8011aluminumfoil.
In5052aluminumfoilhasalsobeensoughtafterbyforeigncompaniesbecauseofits
higheststrength.
5052aluminiummagnesiumfoilcanbeusedforfoodpackagingandfoodcontainer,
safeandhygienic.Aluminumfoilforaviationfoodcontainerisgenerallyformedby
one-timestampingof5052aluminumfoilthroughthecooperationofpunchingmachine
andmold.

Itsproductshaveacertaindegreeofhardness,theproductpriceismoderate,andare
disposable,whilealuminumfoilisarecyclableandenvironmentallyfriendlymaterialthat
canbeusedindefinitely.Aluminumfoilhasgoodheattransferperformance,whichjust
meetstheneedsofshortvoyageandfastheating.
5052aluminumfoilcanbeusedastherawmaterialofaluminumfoilforbarbecuetrays.
Thealuminumfoilforbarbecueismadeofelectrolyticaluminumwithapurityof
99.0%-99.7%.Nobacteriaormicroorganismswillgrowonthesurface,andtherewillbe
nogreasepenetrationunderhightemperatureconditions.Thisadvantageisunmatched
byanyothermaterial.

The5000Al-MgalloyslikeASTM5083andASTM5052havebeenwidelyusedinthe
marineenvironmentbecauseofitslowdensity,highspecificstrength,andgoodcorrosion
resistance.Itisanidealmaterialformanufacturinglighthigh-speedships.The
compositioncontentof5083aluminumalloyMg4.0~4.9,Mn0.4~1.0,Cr0.05~0.25,
Fe≤0.40,Si≤0.40,Zn≤0.25,Ti≤0.15,Altheremainder..Amongthem,Mgisthemain
strengtheningelement,whichplaysacertainroleinsolidsolutionstrengthening.
Acorrosion-resistantpassivationfilmiseasytoformonthesurfaceofaluminumalloy,
whichhasacertainprotectiveeffectonthesubstrate,butthislayerofoxidefilmisoften

non-uniform,andthethicknessisverythin,onlyabout4nm,whichisnotenoughtoresist
corrosioninharshenvironments.
Seawaterisahighlycorrosivemedium,andtheCl-willcausethedissolutionand
destructionofthepassivationfilm,sothatthepassivationfilmlosesitsprotectiveeffect,
andthencausesthematerialtocorrodeandfail.Studieshaveconfirmedthataluminum
alloysdonotundergouniformcorrosion,andthetypicalformofcorrosionispitting
corrosion.Pittingcorrosioncancausecorrosionandperforationofmaterials,which
seriouslyaffectsthestrengthandsafetyofmaterials.Therefore,measuresneedtobe
takentoeliminateorweakentheoccurrenceofpittingcorrosionandenhancethe
practicabilityofmaterials.
The5083aluminumalloyhasasmallactivationringinseawater,anditiseasytorestore
thepassivestate.Atthesametime,thebreakdownpotentialandprotectionpotentialare
higherthantheself-corrosionpotentialinthestablestate,reflectingitsgoodcorrosion
resistanceinseawater.Cl-istheactiveionthatinducespittingcorrosionof5083
aluminumalloy,andthecontentofCl-significantlyaffectsthepittingpotential.
Aluminumisanamphotericmetalwithrelativelyactivechemicalproperties,andchemical
reactionscanoccurinbothalkalineandacidicenvironments.Experimentshave
confirmedthatcathodicpolarizationwithinacertainrangewillinhibittheanodereaction
andsignificantlyimprovethecorrosionresistanceofaluminumalloys.However,whenthe
cathodicpolarizationpotentialexceedsacertainvalue,cathodiccorrosionofaluminum
alloysmayoccur.
Theself-corrosionpotentialofASTM5083instillseawaterisabout-760mV,thepitting
corrosionbreakdownpotentialis-690mV,andthecorrespondingpittingcorrosion
protectionpotentialis-720mV.Electrochemicalcathodicprotectioncaneffectivelyinhibit
theformationanddevelopmentofpittingcorrosionin5083aluminumalloy.Inthe
seawatersystem,thesuitablecathodicprotectionpotentialrangeof5083aluminumalloy
isbetween-800~-1000mV.

MarineGrade5086Aluminum
Themarinegradealuminumsheetshavetheadvantagesofexcellentcorrosionresistance
andweldability,whichcanmeetthespecificrequirementsofnavigation.Atpresent,
aluminum-magnesium alloys, aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloys and
aluminum-zinc-magnesiumalloysaregenerallyusedasmarinealuminumalloymaterials.
Amongthem,themostcommonaresilicon-aluminum alloyand
aluminum-zinc-magnesiumalloymaterials.Aluminumalloysusedinshipbuilding
structuresmainlyincludethefollowingthreetypesofalloys:5083,5086,and5456.What
arethe5086aluminumproperties?
Themainalloyingelementsof5086aluminumplatearemagnesiumandsilicon.Ithas
highcorrosionresistance,goodweldabilityandmediumstrength.Intermsofmechanical
properties,thetensilestrengthof5086aluminumsheetis≥240,conditionalyieldstrength
is≥95,elongationis≥10.
Inseawatercorrosionexperiments,themaximumdepthofthecorrosionpitsofthe
5086-H34alloysampleis0.86mm,butthereisnolargestrengthloss;after5years,the
strengthlossofthefullyimmersedunprotectedweld5086sampleisnegligible,and
almostnocorrosionpitsarefound.
Inpartiallyimmersedsamples,thestrengthlossof3.2mmthickunwelded5086is
negligibleregardlessoftheimmersionconditions,whichfullyshowsthat5086maintains

itsinherentresistancetoseawaterstresscorrosion.
In2012,AustalUSCompanyoftheUnitedStatesbuiltthefirstbatchof"Vigilance"
all-aluminumcatamaranhigh-speedtransportships,using5083aluminumalloyplates
providedbyAlcoa.Mostofthe811.30taluminumalloysusedinthesuperstructureofthe
USNavy'sfirstballisticmissiledestroyer"Dewey"are5466thickplatesand5086thin
plates.
Theconstructionandworkingenvironmentoftheshiprequirethatthematerialshould
havegoodcorrosionresistance,weldabilityandplasticity,andcertaintensilestrength,
yieldstrength,elongation,impactresistanceandotherproperties.5086aluminumsheet
canmeettheserequirements,sotheapplicationprospectofaluminumalloyproductsin
shiptransportationvehiclesisverypromising.

8000seriesAluminum
Foraluminumfoilpharmaceuticalpackaging,thequalityislargelyreflectedintheheat
sealstrengthoftheheatsealingaluminumfoil.Thereforeitisnecessarytoanalyzethe
factorsthataffecttheheat-sealingstrengthofaluminumfoilpharmaceuticalpackaging.
Thealuminumfoilisthecarrieroftheadhesivelayer,anditsqualityhasagreatinfluence
ontheheatsealingstrengthoftheproduct.Especiallythesurfaceoiloftheoriginal
aluminumfoilcanweakenthebondingforcebetweentheadhesiveandtheoriginal
aluminumfoil.Ifthereisoilonthesurfaceofthealuminumfoilandthesurfacetensionis
lowerthan31×10m,itwillbedifficulttoachievetheidealheatsealingstrength,sothe
qualityoftheoriginalaluminumfoilmustbestrictlycontrolled.

Theadhesiveisaspecialsubstancecontainingasolvent.Itiscoatedonthedarkside(or
smoothside)oftheoriginalaluminumfoilundercertainprocessconditions,andisdriedin
anoventoformanadhesivelayer,whichplaysadecisiveroleintheheat-sealingstrength
oftheproduct.Adhesivescanbedividedintocolorlesstransparent,goldandcolored
series.
Themainprocessistocoattheadhesiveonthesurfaceoftheoriginalaluminumfoilto
formafilmunderthecontrolofcertainprocessparameters.Thequalityofthefilmcan
directlyaffecttheheat-sealingstrengthoftheproduct.Themoreimportantparameters
includethespeedofcoating,thesegmentaltemperatureofthedryingtunnel,theanilox
shape,depth,numberoflinesofthecoatingroller,andthepositionandangleofthe
scraper.
Theheatsealingtemperatureisanimportantfactoraffectingthestrengthoftheheatseal.

Ifthetemperatureistoolow,theadhesivelayercannotbewellheat-sealedwiththePVC
film,andthebondingbetweentheadhesivelayerandthePVCfilmwillnotbefirm.Ifthe
temperatureistoohigh,itwillaffectthemedicine.Therefore,areasonableheat-sealing
temperatureisusuallybetween150°Cand160°C.
Toachievetheidealheatsealingstrength,itisnecessarytosetacertainheatsealing
pressure.Ifthepressureisinsufficient,notonlytheadhesivelayeroftheproductcannot
befullyattachedtothePVCfilmforheatsealing,butevenairbubbleswillexistbetween
thetwo,failingtoachieveagoodheatsealingeffect.
Theheatsealingtimewillalsoaffecttheheatsealstrengthoftheproduct.Usually,under
thesameheat-sealingtemperatureandpressure,alongerheat-sealingtimecanmake
theheat-sealingpartmorefirmandperfect,andcanbetterachievetheexpected
heat-sealingstrength.However,theprocessconditionsofmodernhigh-speed
pharmaceuticalpackagingmachinescannotprovidealongtimeforheatsealing.Ifthe
heatsealingtimeistooshort,theheatsealbetweentheadhesivelayerandthePVCfilm
willbeinsufficient.Forthisreason,thenationalstandardstipulatesthatthescientificheat
sealingtimeis1S.
Ingeneral,therearemanyfactorsthataffecttheheatsealstrengthofsealaluminumfoil
