Bounce Connects Mastodon to Bluesky
Bounce, a platform crafted to enhance your social media profile’s portability across open social
ecosystems, is now enabling users to transfer their Mastodon accounts to Bluesky. On Tuesday, the
developers behind Bounce launched its newest beta release, Bounce 2, which allows individuals to
carry their Mastodon connections and migrate or integrate them into a Bluesky profile.
Cross-Network Movement And User Freedom
This update, arriving on October 20, authorizes users within the open social network to change both
ways — from Mastodon to Bluesky or in opposite. The purpose of this suppleness is to confirm
account transportability so users do not remain limited to a single service if they are affected by its
direction, usage terms, self-control choices, or other issues. Instead, they can easily take their
identity and transition elsewhere without losing their connections.
Origins Of The Migration Technology
Bounce’s cross-protocol migration tool was initially introduced in August by the nonprofit
organization A New Social, which creates technologies aimed at making the open social web more
inclusive and practical.

At present, the open social network includes several foundational systems called protocols, such as
ActivityPub, powering Mastodon, Threads, Flipboard, PeerTube, and Pixelfed, and the AT Protocol,
which drives Bluesky, Skylight, and related applications.
