GOOD MORNING, CLASS!

PRAYER Lord our God, in your wisdom and love you surround us with the mysteries of the universe. Send your Spirit upon us and fill us with your wisdom and blessings. Grant that we may devote ourselves to our studies and draw ever closer to you, the source of all knowledge. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

HOUSE RULES STOP, LOOK, LISTEN, AND LEARN

RECALL ACCELERATION

. 1. What is acceleration? Acceleration is the rate at which velocity changes with time, in terms of both speed and direction.

. 2. If acceleration has the same sign as the velocity, is the object is speeding up or slowing down? The object is speeding up.

. 3. How about if the acceleration has the opposite sign as the velocity? The object is slowing down.

“LET’S ANALYZE!” Instruction: In this activity, you will be given a few seconds to study the diagram. Afterwards, questions will be asked.

A car is travelling on a straight road and leaves oil spots along the way. The oil spots are represented by dots and occurred every second.

“LET’S INTERPRET!” Instruction: In this activity, ticker tape diagrams will be provided and you will be working by group in examining it and describing the motion of the car using the phrases that will be flashed.

PHRASES

. 1. How were you able to get the answers in the activity? By analyzing and interpreting the ticker tape diagrams.

. 2. What does a ticker tape diagram indicate if the dots are spaced further apart? The object is moving fast.

. 3. What about if the dots are spaced closer together? The object is moving slow.

. 4. If the length of the tape increases by the same amount in each time interval, what does it tells us about the motion of the object? The object has a steady speed or a uniform acceleration.

A ticker tape diagram is a tool that uses marks on a tape to record and measure an object's movements.

If a ticker tape diagram has spaces between dots that are not changing all throughout as shown in Figure 14, then this indicates that the object was moving at a constant speed.

The ticker tape diagram that starts off with closely spaced dots but move further apart as you go along as shown in Figure 15 represents that the object was speeding up. This means that the further apart the dots are on the tape, the faster the object moved.

The ticker tape diagram that starts with dots spaced further apart and gets closer as you go along as shown in Figure 16 indicates that the object was slowing down because the dots are getting closer and closer together.

Always remember that in a ticker tape diagram, if the spacing of the dots is changing, this represents that the speed is changing. A changing speed would mean that there is acceleration.

“LET’S CREATE!” Instruction: Create ticker tape diagrams showing the type of motion demonstrated by the given objects.

RUBRIC

QUIZ TIME! Instruction: Read the questions carefully. Write only the letter of the correct answer on a separate sheet. DO NOT WRITE ANYTHING ON THE QUESTIONNAIRE.

ASSIGNMENT What is are motion graphs? What are the types of motion graphs?
