Males -220 to 255 cm and 100 to 140 kg Females- 215 to 230 cm and 75 to 110 kg  Their reduced size is an adaptation to the thick, dense forests and smaller prey in their native habitat. Habitat: Uncultivated forests with thicker subcanopy , Closer to water resources & away from human populations , little use of plantations of Acacia and Palm oil. Morphology & Habitat

Habitat loss due to expansion of deforestation. Prey-base depletion Illegal trade primarily for the domestic market Increasing greenhouse-gas emissions 265 tigers were killed and 97 captured and 35 more tigers were killed from 1998 to 2002. Natural calamities-Forest fires, Eathquakes, etc . Threats

The Sumatran Tiger Project (STP) initiated in June 1995 . Taman Safari - tiger captive-breeding center that also has a sperm bank. Tambling Wildlife Nature Conservation, Batu Nangar Sanctuary are the efforts taken by Indonesian government towards conservation of Sumatran tigers. Conservation
