Introduction OF TONSILLITIS Tonsillitis is inflammation of the tonsils two oval shape pads of the tissues at the back of the throar ,one tonsils at each side Streptococcus pyogenes is the most common cause of the bacterial tonsillitis

Definition Tonsillitis is define as an inflammation of the tonsils and characterized by the soure throat and fever. Inflammation of tonsils is called tonsillitis caused by bacterial and viral infection characterized by difficulty in swallowing ,sore throat ,fever ,snoring [ breathing sound while sleeping]

INTRODUCTION OF PHARYNGITIS Pharyngitis is the inflammation of the mucous membrane of the oropharynx in the most cases it cause by an infection ,bacterial ,trauma ,cancer etc…

Pharyngitis commomly known as sore throte It is an inflamation of the pharynx , ehich results as soure throat

definition Pharyngitis is simply refers to a soure throat is inflammation of the pharnx

Types of tonsillitis Acute tonsillitis chronic tonsillitis recurrent tonsillitis

Acute tonsillitis :- it last for 3 days upto 2 weeks Chronic tonsillitis :- longer than 2 weeks Recurrent tonsillitis :- happen several times a year

Causes viral causes :- Cold virus HSV Measles Infectious mononucleosis Bacterial causes 1. Staphylococcus aureus

2. whooping cough 3. Strep throat 4. Bacterial pneumonia

Sign and symptoms Fever Bad breath Headache Soure throut Dsphagia Lymph node inflammation Cough

Loss of appetite Nausea and vomiting Pus filled paches on tonsilis Painfull swallowing Red enlarged or swollen tonsilis

Diagnostic evaluation History collection Physical examination Blood test Throat swab :- this is used to get a sample of the secretion from the back of the throat

Monospot test :- A blood test can dttect certain antibodies ,which help conform that a preson sympton are due to mononucleusis

management Antibiotic therapy :- it help to treat or prevent bacteria For example :- penicillin and clindamycin Penicillin beging more commonly use increase adequate amount of fluid intake

provide analgesic to reduce pain :-acetaminophen , Ibuprofrn [Advil , motrin ] Steroids like corticosteroids are some recommended to treat soure throat when inflammation is present

Surgical management Tonsillectomy :- an surgery to removal of tonsilis This surgery is done to treat the recurrent tonsillitis or chronic tonsillitis This is the ain surgery ehich is done for the tonsillitis

Nursing managememt To take the complete history of the patient To asses the complete physical examination Monitor the pain frequency and manage the pain Prevent aspiration Improve fluid intake

Increase knowledge and understanding of post discharge care and possible complication Warm salt water for gargles By explaning causes of disease will relieve patient anxiety
