First Response Journal # 2 The poem We Real Cool by Gwendolyn Brooks, to summarize is
about how the pool players (line 1) do not entirely care about school, and really anything that is
remotely good leaving them all to relish in the uncertainty of their demise. In the first stanza is
where there is more substance, with we real cool. We / Left school. (lines 3 4), creating the image
of the pool players leaving school, possibly having dropped out. The second stanzalets the reader
know that the players are spending their time out late, with the lines Lurk late. We / Strike
straight. (lines 5 6) and not up to anything good. The third stanza is where the players start to
celebrate all the mischief they have caused by drinking the sorrows away, in the lines Sing sin.

realization on how it might be Summer, but are not aware, since other individuals do not believe

main purpose I conclude of this poem was how those that go out and party, caring more about
what their friends are doing then their school work. These types of people with this mindset is
not going to fundamentally help in the long run. So being cool is not all it is cracked up to be
and those that want to be cool need to realize all the good and bad that come along with it. Not
going to class because of deciding not to go is a critical piece of the puzzle to the path of
wanting to succeed versus choosing to not succeed. We are all in control of our life to an extent
and can make our own choices to create change, it s what we decide to do with it, that matters.

The play Trifles by Susan Glaspell is an interesting story about a woman named Mrs.Minnie Wright.
Mrs. Minnie wright does not actually take part in the scene but is actually the main character
throughout the play. The focus of the play is about whether or not Minnie Wright did in fact murder
her husband, John Wright or did he commit suicide. Throughout the scene, they bring in people to
look over or find evidence that can be used to give testimony at her trial. Mrs. Minnie wright
should be found innocent of her husband s death, It does not matter if she had a part in his death
or not. The fact that she was not happy because of her husband s attitude towards her tells the
audience that she was not happy and was a captive in what was supposed to be her home.
Mrs.Minnie Wright does not deserve to be condemned for the crime of murdering of her husband.
Mrs.Wright should not be condemned to prison or death because she has already suffered enough
although her marriage and needs to have enough room and space to be able to take a breath. There

I m really enjoying our assigned readings so far in class. My favorite so far has been An
Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge by Bierce. I was not expecting the ending to this short story at
all, it caught me off guard. I honestly did believe that Peyton Farquhar, the main character of the
story, managed to escaped his hanging by swimming away from the scene. What I did find sort
of hard to believe was how much Peyton was able to imagine right before his death. What I mean
by this is how he was able to imagine a whole escape plan that led him running all the way home
to his wife, all while he was in the process of getting hanged. The whole story was about five
pages long but it had a great amount of detail describing the events. I especially enjoyed this
particular reading because I was able to picture every single moment as I kept reading along. I like
stories where I know exactly what is going on and I m able to picture everything in my head and
just flow like a movie would. This was one of those stories, especially after watching a Twilight

A schematic representation of brick clay resources in Great Britain is presented in Figure 1.
The market of bricks presented significant changes with the introduction of concrete blocks as the
latter replaced common bricks in construction. This resulted to a shift of the market in producing
facing bricks, used for aesthetic purposes (Figure 2). The use of facing bricks accounts for over
90% of demand (BGS, 2007) (DTI construction statistics) The production of facing bricks appears
quite stable for the last seven years. Common and engineering bricks are still produced, but in

much lower quantities (Figure 2), whereas the manufacturing of facing bricks have expanded
significantly and currently is described by several products with different colours, textures,
surfaces and sizes. Clay tiles have also been affected by the introduction of concrete. Ceramic
pipemaking has declined considerably due to competition from concrete and plastic pipes. The only

employment and poverty, encompass a wide political spectrum. The extreme right oppose it from
the standpoint of economic and cultural nationalism, and liberals might deplore the loss of national
sovereignty because it reduces the effectiveness of state intervention to regulate capital and labour,
alleviate poverty and so forth.

Youth Justice Conferencing Case Study
The primary aim of the criminal justice system in dealing with young offenders is the emphasis
placed on rehabilitation the offender to become a functioning, law abiding member of society. This
is achieved through differentiating children and young offenders with the rest of society. Through
the Children (Criminal Proceedings) Act 1987 (NSW), Young Offenders Act 1997 (NSW),
Children s Court Act 1987 (NSW), this is achieved.
The Children (Criminal Proceedings) Act recognises inherent differences in maturity and
responsibility between adults and children, affording greater protections to effectively respond to
the vulnerabilities of children. In this act, levels of protections differ dependant on the age of the

Youth justice conferencing allows for the young offender to take responsibility for their actions and
recognise the harm it has caused to the victim and by extension, greater society. However, the
effectiveness in the use of youth justice conferencing in NSW is questioned. A recent study
conducted by the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics has found that youth justice conferencing is no
more effective than sanctions imposed by the Children s Court in reducing the risk of juvenile
reoffending . This finding is inconsistent with the effectiveness of youth justice conferencing in
other jurisdictions, notably Victoria, where people who participated in youth justice conferencing
...were much less likely to reoffend within 12 to 24 months... than their counterparts who received
sanctions through the Victorian Children s Court. This raises questions over the implementation of
such diversionary programmes in NSW, where little to no follow up support is given to offenders in

From ending up dead to killing your own son, wishes can have some extreme consequences. After
reading The Monkey s Paw and The Third Wish it is clear that they are similar and different in

The involvement of the Soviet Union in Congo caused a numerous amount of problems. The
Congo was facing political and social instability because of the Belgian troops that were present
and taking control over the land at the time. This all led to the United States getting involved, they
