U.S. HOTEL RESULTS FOR THE WEEK ENDING 21 SEPTEMBER September 26 th , 2024 – The U .S. hotel industry reported positive year-over-year comparisons, according to CoStar ’s latest data through 21 September. CoStar is a leading provider of online real estate marketplaces, information and analytics in the property markets. September 15 th – 21 st , 2024 (percentage change from the comparable week in 2023) : Occupancy: 68.9% (+0.5%) Average daily rate (ADR): US$168.80 (+2.0%) Revenue per available room (RevPAR): US$116.22 (+2.5%) measures how much revenue a hotel generates from its available rooms. Among the Top 25 Markets: Houston saw the highest year-over-year lift in occupancy (+10.7% to 69.0%) .Driven by Dreamforce 2024 San Francisco reported the largest increases in ADR (+60.9% to US$363.09) and RevPAR (+71.6% to US$300.36). The steepest RevPAR decline was seen in New York City (-14.5% to US$379.90) , due to a comparison against the week of the general debates during the United Nations General Assembly.

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) has reported on labor shortages in the hotel industry, including the need for more workers. STAFFING SHORTAGES A May 2024 survey found that 76% of hotels are experiencing a staffing shortage , with 13% reporting that the shortage is severely affecting their ability to operate. Housekeeping is the most critical staffing need, with 50% of hotels ranking it as their top hiring need.
