Tradition

What is Tradition? A tradition is a belief or behavior passed down within a group or society with symbolic meaning or special significance with origins in the past.

Traditions can persist and evolve for thousands of years The word tradition itself derives from the Latin tradere literally meaning to transmit, to hand over, to give for safekeeping

The concepts of tradition and traditional values are frequently used in political and religious discourse to establish the legitimacy of a particular set of values

In the social sciences,  tradition  is often contrasted with  modernity , particularly in terms of whole societies. This dichotomy is generally associated with a linear model of social change, in which societies progress from being traditional to being modern

Culture

Culture is a set of patterns of human activity within a community or social group and the symbolic structures that give significance to such activity. Customs, laws, dress, architectural style, social standards, religious beliefs, and traditions are all examples of cultural elements.

Community Ethnic Group Civilization Cultural Groups a social unit of any size that shares common values socially defined category of people who identify with each other based on common ancestral, social, cultural or national experience. any complex society characterized by urban development, social stratification, symbolic communication forms (typically, writing systems), and a perceived separation from and domination over the natural environment.

As of 2010, Culture is considered the Fourth Pillar of Sustainable Development by UNESCO.

Elements of Culture

There are mainly 10 elements The arts Clothing Gastronomy Food preparation Dance Architecture Mass media Tradition Food and drink Celebration

The arts The arts encompasses visual arts, literary arts and the performing arts. Clothing Clothing encompasses everything from Fashion to Jewelry

Gastronomy the art and science of good eating Food preparation the act of preparing foodstuffs for eating. Dance used as a form of expression, social interaction, or presented in a spiritual or performance setting.

Architecture designing and erecting buildings and other physical structures Mass media diversified media technologies and their content that are intended to reach a large audience by mass communication.

Cultures of the World

The Culture of any country is a snapshot of the country’s history, language, and people. While it is true that every indigenous or nomadic tribe has its own customs, traditions, and culture, the place that they reside in also plays a huge role in the shaping of culture.

When it comes to old, religious traditions, involving tales of yore, the name of India comes up in many people’s minds It is a land of mystery, magic, and tradition, and has an interesting historical background as well. The country is home to a number of diverse religions, with Hinduism and Islam as the leading ones. India

The Greek culture itself has forged a separate and distinct identity in science that has made a mark globally, in addition to leaps in the world of art, such as in theatre and museums. Greece

The culture of Australia is a Western culture derived primarily from Britain but also influenced by the unique geography of the Australian continent, the diverse input of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and other Oceania people. Australia

Culture in Saudi Arabia

The cultural setting of Saudi Arabia is greatly influenced by the Arab and Islamic culture.

The society is in general deeply religious, conservative, traditional, and family-oriented.

Many attitudes and traditions are centuries-old, derived from Arab civilization and Islamic heritage. However, its culture has also been affected by rapid change, as the country was transformed from an impoverished nomadic society into a rich commodity producer in just a few years in the 1970s
