VOCATIONAL TRANING ~NAGESH YADAV,VINOD karsh

OVERVIEW Amalgam Steel – A joint venture between Atha & Misra Group has acquired Adhunik Alloys & Power Limited and Orrisa Manganese & Minerals Limited, both of which operate manufacturing facilities in the state of Jharkhand. The company's integrated steel plant is based on Sponge Iron Technology. Driven by the growing demand for steel products for power & telecommunication, construction and heavy industry sectors in the country, the company has a multistage expansion plan both upstream and downstream. It has also secured its raw material resources. The Company has an Iron ore Pellet Manufacturing company located on the same premises with state-of-the-art technology. The Pellet Plant is backed with Beneficiation Plant to utilize the low grade iron ore fines and convert them into a value-added product. It produces both blast furnace and DRI grade pellets.

OBJECTIVES Training and Development activities are designed to impart specific abilities and knowledge . Training is a planned effort by an organization to facilitate employee’s learning of job related knowledge and skills for the purpose of improving performance. To provide comprehensive knowledge about company

TABLE OF CONTENTS Electrical safety & Knowledge about PPEs What is electrical PPE? List of 10 electrical safety hazards to keep an eye on in the workplace: Steel Melting Shop(SMS) Induction furnace Continuous Casting Machine(CCM) Captive power plant(CPP) What is CPP? CPPs can be classified in several ways, including: CPPs can operate in two modes: Image of CPP.

Electrical safety & Knowledge about PPEs What Is Safety? Electrical safety is a system of organizational measures and technical means to prevent harmful and dangerous effects on workers from electric current, arcing, electromagnetic fields and static electricity. Basic electrical safety 1.Preventing electrical equipment from contacting wet areas 2.Ensuring safe use when unplugging 3.Installing properly and tidy electrical cords 4.Understanding your switchboard

What is Electrical Personal Protecting Equipment (PPE?) Electrical PPE is equipment that reduces exposure to electrical hazards that can cause serious injuries, burns, electric shock, or fatal incidents. Electrical PPE is worn by electrical workers who work with electrical equipment. Electrical PPE includes electricity insulated safety shoes, helmet, arc flash shirt and pant or arc coverall, arc protect gloves, earplugs, transparent goggle, and electric face shield. Electrical PPE selection, use, limitations, inspection, donning, doffing, and maintenance should be based on the guidelines and requirements of the electrical PPE program. Electrical PPE should be worn before operating any electric panels or working in live line. Electrical workers should have a qualified certificate and respective work experience to work in switchgears.

List of 10 electrical safety hazards to keep an eye on in the workplace: Overloaded circuits Faulty wiring Exposed electrical parts Improper grounding Damaged insulation Contact with live wiring Loose connections Wet environments Overhead power lines

Steel Melting Shop (SMS) SMS is the central part of a modern steelmaking facility. It uses various processes to convert hot metal from iron-making units into different type of steel. Raw Materials: Uses iron ore, scrap steel, and fluxes. Melting: Heats materials in furnaces to produce molten steel. Refining: Removes impurities and adds alloying elements. Casting: Forms molten steel into slabs, billets, or blooms. Sustainability: Focuses on efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

Induction Furnace An induction furnace is an electrically powered furnace that uses electromagnetic induction to melt and heat metal. Principle: Uses electromagnetic induction to generate heat within the metal charge. Components: Consists of a nonconductive crucible surrounded by a copper coil. Efficiency: Highly energy-efficient and provides precise temperature control1. Applications: Commonly used to melt iron, steel, copper, aluminum, and precious metals. Advantages: Produces less pollution and allows for better alloy mixing due to inductive stirring.

Continuous Casting Machine(CCM) Continuous casting, also called strand casting, is the process whereby molten metal is solidified into a "semifinished" billet, bloom, or slab for subsequent rolling in the finishing mills. This process is used most frequently to cast steel (in terms of tonnage cast). Aluminium and copper are also continuously cast.

Captive Power Plant(CPP)

Captive Power Plant(CPP) Amalgam Steel & Power Limited (ASPL) has a captive power plant (CPP) at its steel plant in Jamshedpur, India that uses waste heat to generate 12 megawatts (MW) of power. The plant can operate off-grid or connect to the electric grid to sell excess power. Captive power plants are often used by industries that require a steady and high-quality power supply, like steel plants ASPL also has other power generation facilities, including: 15 MW of thermal power and Three 100 KWP solar power generation units

CPPs can be classified in several ways, including: Ownership: Can be owned by a single person or multiple owners Technology/fuel: Can use coal, gas, diesel, bagasse, hydro, solar, wind, and more Connectivity with grid: Can be standalone (off-grid), grid-connected on the same premises, or grid-connected on outside premises

CPPs can operate in two modes: Grid parallel mode: The plant can export any excess power to the local electricity distribution network Island mode: The plant operates independently of the local electricity distribution system
