Transportation YOU and the 2019 DC Youth Summit Marlise Streitmatter

Introduction As a senior consultant at LMI Government Consulting in Tysons, Virginia, Marlise Streitmatter leverages nearly three decades of experience in government and international relations to assist clients in areas such as strategic communications, organizational improvement, and change management. Marlise Streitmatter joined LMI after serving as the deputy chief of staff in the United States Department of Transportation (DOT), where she helped lead DOT initiatives such as Transportation YOU.  Designed for girls aged 13 to 18, Transportation YOU is a unique mentoring program developed through a partnership between DOT and WTS, an international organization that supports women working in the transportation industry. With the help of WTS members, Transportation YOU introduces participants to various transportation careers while encouraging them to pursue studies in the areas of science, math, and technology.

Transportation YOU In addition to local programs and activities, select Transportation YOU participants and mentors take part in the program's DC Youth Summit. The event gives attendees the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC, for five days of activities, including tours, engineering challenges, and meetings with government administrators.  The next Transportation YOU DC Youth Summit will take place June 26-30, 2019. Applications are open to all WTS members on a first-come, first-served basis.  Transportation YOU participants selected to attend will meet with college representatives and the US Secretary of Transportation. The event will feature a dinner banquet and tours of the Capitol Building, the Department of Transportation, George Washington University, and the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center.
