Guidelines for Effective and Interesting Troop Meetings A good meeting should hold the girls’ interest from start to finish. 2. To achieve some form of balance, meetings should be built around the four signposts of Scouting, which are: Character and Intelligence, Handicraft, Health and Service.

Guidelines for Effective and Interesting Troop Meetings There is no set of rules as to how often and how long a troop meeting should last but 45 minutes to 1 ½ hours once a week or twice a month would be adequate. Patrols may have patrol meetings in between troop meetings. Let the Patrol method work. Give the Patrol Leaders the chance to plan and lead the patrol activities.

Guidelines for Effective and Interesting Troop Meetings There should be balance and variety. No two meetings should be the same. There should be active as well as quiet activities. Some meetings may be held indoors but more should be out-of-doors.

Guidelines for Effective and Interesting Troop Meetings 6. There should always be the element of fun and surprise in every troop meeting. 7. Troop meetings should be held regularly, without which the girls would lose interest and drop off.

Guidelines for Effective and Interesting Troop Meetings 8. The living of the Promise and Law must permeate the troop meeting and its activities. 9. Girls should be involved in planning their troop meetings.
