caprolactone.Itcomesbothdyed(violet)andundyed(clear).
•Monocrylhasalowtissuereactivity,maintainshightensilestrength,and
hasahalf-lifeof7to14days.At1week,itsinvivotensilestrengthisat
50-60%undyed,(60-70%dyed),at2weeksits20-30%undyed(30-40%dyed).
•Completelyhydrolyzedby91–119days.Itisrarelyusedforpercutaneous
skinclosure,andisnotusedinareasofhightension(e.g.fascia).
•Itisgenerallyusedforsoft-tissueapproximationandligation.Itisused
frequentlyforsubcuticulardermisclosuresoftheface.Ithaslessofa
tendencytoexitthroughtheskinafteritbreaksdown,suchas
Polyglactin910.Itisforusageinophthalmicandmicrosurgery.Alsoused
