Types of atelectasis
Atelectasis and collapse
What will I gain from this video?
After watching this video, you will know how to
classify and identify different types of atelectasis
on a chest X-ray.
The Fleishner Society1 describes atelectasis
as reduced inflation of all, or part, of the lung.

‘Collapse’ is used interchangeably with
atelectasis, but usually suggests a more
severe form of atelectasis.
