DOORS A door is defined as an openable barrier secured in a wall opening. It is provided to give access to the inside of a room of a building. It is connection portion of between two buildings or a room
Battened & ledged There are 18 types of doors. Battened & ledged door This is simplest type of door Suitable for narrow opening. Door is formed of vertical bond,known as battens and is fixed by horizontal support know as ledged . Three ledged are provided at top,botton and in middle.
Battened,ledged, braced This door is modification of battened,ledged & braced door. To increase its strength,durability & appearance, brace is placed diagonally between ledges. Thus this door consists of 3 ledges & 2 braces.
Battened, ledged, framed This type of door is improved form of battened and ledged door. In this frame work for shutter is provided in form of two verticals, known as style. Total thickness of style is adjusted equal to thickness of ledges.
Frame & panel This type of door are almost used in all types of buildings. This door consist of a frame work of vertical members called style and horizontal members called rails. Panel are made from timber,plywood and block board.
There are different types of panel door
Glazed or sash This type of door is used in residential as well as public places. Door may be fully glazed or partially glazed and partially paneled. Ratio of glazed portion 2 panel portion is 2:1
louvered Louvered door provide free ventilation through them & at the same time they provide privacy in room. This doors are generally used in bathrooms. Door may be louvered to full height or partially height.
Revolving Such doors are provided in public buildings where there are constant visitors. This door is suitable for air conditioning buildings. Such a door provide entrance and exit together.
sliding In sliding door the shutter slides on the sides with the help of runners and guide rails. The door may have one,two or three sliding shutter or more depending upon the size of opening and place available.
flush Flush door are becoming popular these days because of their pleasing appearance, simplicity of construction, low cost, better strength. Flush door are of two types:- 1)solid core flush door. 2)hollow and cellular core flush door.
This door consist of solid or semi-solid skeleton or core covered on both side of plywood, presenting flush which can be neatly polished
