Types of Sound

Types 1)Rhythm: A beat or a pulse. It sets the pace for the scene and gives importance to dialogues .The same sound repeats over and over again. 2)Fidelity: The sound is true to the source for example we hear what we are expecting to hear. 3)Lack of fidelity: When there is a disparity between an image and the sound. The viewer is taken out of the scene. 4) Parallel sound: When sound we hear goes hand in hand with the images on the screen. 5) Contrapuntal sound: It is when we hear sounds that wouldn't associate with events on screen. 6) Synchronous sound: Matching the sound with images on the screen. 7) Asynchronous sound: When images and sound are out of sync. 8) Digetic sound: Sounds which can also be heard by actors. 9) Non-Digetic sound: Sounds that come from outside the narrative space i.e. sounds that cannot be heard by actors. 10) Volume: Refers to loudness of sounds. 11) Pitch: High pitch means shrieking sound and low pitch is heavy sound. 12) Timber: Quality of sound. 13) Tempo: Speed of sound. 14) Sound bridge: Syncing two sounds together.
