Entertainment Speech

EXPOSITORY/
INFORMATIVE
SPEECH
aims to provide the audience with
information about a topic or to
expand their knowledge about a
topic with which they are already
familiar

Types of Informative Speeches
This provides a vivid picture of a
person, a place, or an object. It
provides an image of the subject
in the audience’s minds through
sensory details such as sight,
sound, smell, touch, and taste.
DESCRIPTION SPEECH
ex: describing the tallest
building in the world, the symptoms of
ulcer, the splendor of the Banaue rice
terraces

national elections, and the implementation
of the reproductive health law

Characteristics of an
Expository/Informative
Speech
CREDIBLE
The audience is more likely to listen
to you if they see that you are fully
prepared and qualified to speak about
the topic. Otherwise, you would not
be able to hold the interest of the
audience members if they know that
you do not have expertise on the
subject matter.

Characteristics of an
Expository/Informative
Speech
ACCURATE
You need to show the audience that you
are well-informed and that you know
what you are talking about. A good
informative speech presents accurate
information that is up-to-date,
reliable, and uncorrupted.

Characteristics of an
Expository/Informative
Speech
CLEAR
To ensure the clarity of your speech,
use simple words and straightforward
sentences, define unfamiliar concepts,
and choose an organizational pattern,
such as chronological, spatial, or
cause-effect, that will clearly
present the information.

Characteristics of an
Expository/Informative
Speech
MEMORABLE
Make a long-lasting impact on the
audience by being memorable. Show
enthusiasm, creativity, and sincerity.
It is also essential that you build
rapport with the audience. Engage them
by sharing a personal experience,
asking provocative questions, and
telling a humorous story, among
others.

to adopt his or her way of
thinking or to change the way
they think about things.
CONVINCING
SPEECH
ACTUATION
SPEECH
This type of speech is designed
to urge the audience to take a
particular action. When making an
actuation speech, the speaker

VARIOUS WAYS TO MAKE A
SPEECH ENTERTAINING
Tell a funny or a scary story.
