Why is self awareness important? Important aspect is creating a therapeutic relationship . Using ourselves as the therapeutic agents , so need to know ourselves . Need to acknowledge that we will have/create an affect on the client. Enables us to be authentic (Sincere & genuine), congruent & open with clients .

Conti… The more able we are to accept ourselves we are more able to accept our clients for who they are. Reduces changes of assumptions and judgments about clients experiences & emotions . More able to manage our feelings & emotions & stay in charge, rather than being overwhelmed by them.
