LIKE - DISLIKE ! LIKE to show what people like, e.g. She likes spicy food. other words to shows like : odore, love, crazy about, enjoy, fond of, keen of Example She always looks stunning. No wonder if everyone adores her. All girls in town are crazy about korean pop singer. She enjoys coming to every concert. The man is keen of art and classic music.
LIKE - DISLIKE ! DISLIKE to show what people do not like, e.g. She doesn’t like sweet. other words to shows do not like : hate, abhor, fed up with Example She hates taking extra course after school. Most people abhor corruption in government. People are fed up with all these traffic jams.s
QUITE … & REALLY QUITE isn’t used to form negative sentences. But it tends to show negative meaning e.g She quiet enjoys swimming and dancing. They quite happy to meet their new neighbours who are annoying. REALLY can be used to form negative sentences. It makes the sentence sounds softer. e.g The man doesn’t like eating seafood. (stronger) The man doesn’t really like eating seafood (softer)
Relative Clauses
WHO WHOM WHOSE subject or object pronoun for people e.g The woman, who is wearing a red gown, is my daughter. object pronoun for people e.g He is the man, whom you chose to be your partner. possession for people, animal, or things e.g I know the man, whose daughter is crying aloud. The Relative Pronouns
WHO The woman, who is wearing a red gown, is my daughter. “who” used to specify the information about the woman. “who” used to describe the woman specifically. WHOM He is the man, whom you chose to be your partner. “whom” used to describe and specify the man as object pronoun.
WHOSE I know the man, whose daughter is crying aloud. “whose” used to describe the man who has a daughter. (kata ganti kepemilikan)
WHEN WHERE WHICH refers to time expression e.g My mom still remember the time when she came here in 1980. refers to a place e.g My mom still remember the place where she met my father in 1980. subject or object pronoun for animals or things. e.g I bring you a cake which you like much.
WHEN My mom still remember the time when she came here in 1980. WHERE My mom still remember the place where she met my father in 1980. “when” used to describe the time (artinya: ketika) WHICH I bring you a cake which you like much. “where” used to describe the place (artinya: dimana) “which” used to describe the object (benda) - (artinya: yang)
THAT subject or object pronoun for people, animals and things e.g I bring you the books that you want to read *that can be used to replace “which” and “who” e.g. She likes the book that you bring to her. She likes the book which you bring to her She is the girl who brings red flowers. She is the girl that brings red flowers.
THAT I bring you the books that you want to read “that” used to give specific information about the book.
