Integrated Information Systems
•ARIS (Architecture of
Integrated Information Systems) is an approach
to enterprise modeling.
• It offers methods for analyzing processes and
taking a holistic view of process design,
management, work flow, and application
processing.
•The ARIS approach provides a generic
methodological framework and a business
process modeling tool

TECHNIQUES
•ARIS uses a modeling language known as event-driven
process chains (EPC), which is an important aspect of
the ARIS-model. EPC is central to ARIS and connects
all other views, as well as describing the dynamics of
the business process.
ARIS varies four main perspectives of techniques
•Organizational view
•Data view
•Control view
•Functional view

CONT.,
Information management is all about helping
people to carry out their daily work in a more
streamlined and efficient way. A well integrated
information system will ensure that staff:
❑spend less time on
contributing/seeking/extracting/retrieving data
❑undertake fewer tasks when handling information
❑generate less paper-based data
❑have access to a system that is secure and
protects confidentiality where necessary.

ERP
•Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is the
integrated management of core business
processes, often in real-time and mediated by
software and technology.
•ERP provides an integrated and continuously
updated view of core business processes using
common databases maintained by
a database management system.

CONT.,
ERP systems track business resources—
❖cash,
❖ raw materials,
❖ production capacity
❖The status of business commitments orders,
❖purchase orders, and
❖payroll.

FUNCTIONAL AREAS
An ERP system covers the following common functional
areas.
•Finance & Accounting : General Ledger, Fixed
Assets, payables including vouchering, matching and
payment, receivables Cash Management and
collections, cash management, Financial Consolidation
•Management Accounting : Budgeting, Costing, cost
management, activity based costing
•Human resources : Recruiting, training, payroll,
benefits, retirement and pension plans, diversity
management, retirement, separation

CONT.,
•Manufacturing: Engineering, bill of materials, work
orders, scheduling, capacity, workflow
management, quality control, manufacturing process,
manufacturing projects, manufacturing flow, product life
cycle management
•Order Processing: Order to cash, order entry, credit
checking, pricing, inventory, shipping, sales analysis and
reporting, sales commissioning.
•Supply chain management : Supply chain planning,
supplier scheduling, product configurator, order to
cash, purchasing, inventory, claim
processing, warehousing (receiving, put
away, picking and packing).

CONT.,
•Project management: Project planning, resource
planning, project costing, work breakdown
structure, billing, time and expense, performance units,
activity management
•Customer relationship management : Sales and
marketing, commissions, service, customer contact, call
centre support — CRM systems are not always
considered part of ERP systems but rather Business
Support systems (BSS).
•Data services : Various "self–service" interfaces for
customers, suppliers and/or employees
