Use cases of Switch Requirement
3
•Presentation providing the use cases where to place switches in the site or where
switch are not required.
•Key points to note: -
•UBR is having single 1G (10/100/1000 Base-T) interface available
•UBR is interface is Power over Ethernet type means data and power to provide
single 1G interface.
• Aggregation of different types of traffic like 2G, 3G, OLT etc needs to be done
on Switch.
•In case Switch required on site then UBR’s are going to be power ON using
switch access port as supplied switches are PoE switches
•In case Switch is not require then we have power ON UBR using DC PoE
adapter supplied.
Use Case – 1 (Remote End Traffic: eNodeB only)
Local Site: UBR direct connect
to existing L3 switch / Router
Remote Site: Only eNodeB
traffic needs to transport from
Remote to Local station.
Local Site Remote Site
NO SWITCH REQUIRED AT LOCAL AS WELL AS REMOTE STATION
Steps: At Remote Site
•UBR RJ45 Ethernet interface will connect to DC PoE Adapter Output Ethernet Port using CAT 6 cable supplied.
•DC Power and Electrical Ethernet RJ45 cable coming eNodeB connect to DC PoE Input.
Local Site:
•UBR RJ45 Ethernet interface will connect to DC PoE Adapter Output Ethernet Port using CAT 6 cable supplied.
•DC Power and Electrical Ethernet RJ45 cable coming Router connect to DC PoE Input.
Use Case – 2 (Remote End Traffic: 2G/3G + eNodeB +OLT)
Local Site: UBR direct connect to
existing L3 switch / Router
Remote Site: More than one
services like 4G, 2G/3G, OLT etc
traffic needs to transport from
Remote to Local station.
SWITCH REQUIRED AT REMOTE STATION ONLY
Steps: At Remote Site
•UBR RJ45 Ethernet interface will connect to PoE Switch Access Port using CAT 6 cable supplied.
•DC Power connect to Switch for Power ON.
•4G, 2G/3G and OLT traffic connects to Switch for aggregation.
