2. T he u r e t er is c o n t i n o us with th e fun n el shaped renal pelvis. T he u r e t e r s a r e th e tube s th a t c o n v ey u r i ne from the kidneys to the urinary bladder. T he t w o u r ete r s a r e muscular tub e s th a t e x t e n d f r om th e kidneys t o th e p o s t er i or s u r f a c e o f th e u r ina r y bla d d e r w h e r e the u r ine i s p r o p elled alo n g th e u r e t er by peristaltic contractions

Ureter relations It lies within the hilum of the kidney and receives the major calyces It enters the pelvis by crossing the bifurcation of the common iliac artery in front of the sacroiliac joint It runs downward & forward on the lateral wall of the pelvi s to enter the lateral angle of the bladder

6. RELATIONS TO URETER ANTERIOR : Duodenum, Terminal part of the ileum, Right colic vessels, Iliocolic vessels, Right testicular or ovarian vessels. POSTERIOR : Right psoas muscle, Bifurcation of the right common iliac artery

7. CONSIST OF 3 LAYERS OF TISSUE: Outer covering of fibrous tissue. Middle muscular layer consisting of smooth muscle fibers. Inner layer the mucosa, lined with transitional epithelium.

8. Blood Supply Upper end is supplied by the renal artery Middle portion by (gonadal) testicular or ovarian artery In the pelvis is supplied by the superior vesical artery

9. The lymph drains to the lateral aortic nodes and the iliac nodes
