Let’s have some fun! VEST IN SPELLING

Use Venn Diagrams to represent sets, subsets, and set operations.

At the end of this lesson, you are expected to : Use Venn Diagrams to represent sets, subsets, and set operations.

Operations on Sets In Arithmetic, we have operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division that enable us to combine number. In sets, we have 4 operations of a set.

Four operations of a set. INTERSECTION UNION COMPLEMENT DIFFERENCE

INTERSECTION OF SETS the intersection of set A and B is the set of elements that are common to both sets. Usually, we write the intersection of set A and B as A ∩ B.

UNION OF SETS A union of set A and B is the set of elements that are in A, in B, or in both sets. Usually, we write the union of set A and B as A U B.

COMPLEMENT OF SETS The complement of a Set A is the set of all the elements in the universal set that are not in Set A. We write the symbol of complement of Set A as A’ .

DIFFERENCE OF SETS The difference of a set A and B, written as A-B is the set of all elements of A that are not elements of set B.

FICTION AND NON FICTION The students will be shown the result of a teacher’s survey that asked some Grade 7 students about their book preference. The result is as follows:
