The oral receptive personality is preoccupied with eating/drinking and reduces tension through oral activity such as eating, drinking, smoking, biting nails. The oral aggressive personality is hostile and verbally abusive to others, using mouth-based aggression. The anal retentive personality is stingy, with a compulsive seeking of order and tidiness. The person is generally stubborn and perfectionist. The anal repulsive personality lacks self-control, being generally messy and careless. Oedipus- Electra Complex boys develop a sexual attraction for their mothers (girls for their fathers- electra complex) Engage in an unconscious rivalry with the same sex parent over the opposite sex one.
Boys will fear their fathers anger and develop castration anxiety because they are afraid their father will remove their genitals as punishment. Girls develop penis envy and desire to grow a penis like their father’s. The complex is resolved when the child identifies strongly with the same sex parent. Boys take on their fathers characteristics and want to be like him. Girls move from a desire to have a penis to a desire to have a baby.
