VARIABLE VALENCY
Some elements differ in their capacity to combine with other elements depending
on the nature of the reaction; this property is called variable valency.
eg:Iron in Ferrous oxide -valency -+2
Iron in Ferric Oxide-Valency +3
An atom of an element can sometimes lose more electrons than are present in its
valence shell that is loss from the penultimate shell and hence exhibit more than 1
or variable valency.
