Mechanism of action: vasodilator drugs  relax the smooth muscle in blood vessels. which causes the vessels to dilate. Dilation of arterial (resistance) vessels leads to a reduction in systemic vascular resistance. leads to a fall in arterial blood pressure.

Uses: They're used to treat or prevent : High blood pressure (hypertension) Heart failure Preeclampsia (high blood pressure during pregnancy) Angina  (chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart) Pulmonary hypertension  (high blood pressure that affects the arteries in your lungs)

Side affects: Side Effects of vasodilators may include : Chest pain Heart palpitations (fluttering or pounding heartbeat) Rapid heartbeat Fluid retention Nausea or vomiting Dizziness Headache Flushing Excessive hair growth Nasal congestion
