Vermicompost is a simple technology for converting biodegradable waste into organic manure with the help of earthworms. Mostly farmer uses Red worm ( Eisenia foetida ). INTRODUCTION
Vermicompost has indeed been found to have significant concentration of total and bio-available nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium ( NPK ), and micronutrients, as well as microbial and enzyme activity and growth regulators. PR0PERTIES
Prepare a cow dung slurry and sprinkle it on the heap for quick decomposition. Add a layer (2-3) inch of soil or sand at the bottom of the tank. Now prepare fine bedding by adding partially decomposed cow dung ,dried leaves and other biodegradable wastes collected from field and kitchen. PREPARATION
IMPORTANCE
Easy to perform and does not require expensive or sophisticated equipments. Eco-friendly and socially cum economically viable innovative technology. Bring waste-lands under cultivation. Used to convert municipal and industrial solid organic wastes into organic fertilizer . It enhances in N fixation and P solublization and is rich source of nutrients, vitamins, antibiotics ,growth hormones. ADVANTAGE
