Background and Rationale of WAP :
The Workplace Application Plan (WAP) helps master teachers apply their learning from the three-day training to
improve instruction, follow protocols, and manage tasks effectively. It strengthens instructional leadership, supports
professional growth, and enhances learner outcomes.
Upper Pangi Elementary School is a medium-size school with 470 enrolled learners. It offers Kindergarten to Grade
Six classes. It is lead by a Head Teacher, with a teaching staff composed of 3 males,1 Master Teacher I, and 2 Teacher III.
Out of the 13 female teachers, 12 are Teacher III, and 1 Teacher 2. It has also an Administrative Officer II who helps do
some administrative tasks. The teachers of UPES hold no subject specializations. They are well-rounded teachers because
they graduated under the general education curriculum. Since there is only 1 highly –proficient teacher in the school, all
the others have not undergone any trainings on quality enhancement through instructional competence.

UPES performs slightly above the average. Due to the diverse culture of the community, less participation on
school activities is highly noticeable. Although there is a high number of enrollees, academics needs much pulling up.
Reading with comprehension is one of the priority improvement area to be given attention. The school’s GWA averages
from 83% to 84.5%. The school is also participating in other curricular activities such as scouting and sports.
Student journalism, and leadership exposures are also part of their learning. Although the teachers are doing their best
to uplift the quality of learning, much is yet to be done.

Being a Master Teacher is not an easy task. One needs to be abreast with the trend in education. Education is
constantly evolving, with new teaching methods, technologies, and research emerging regularly. This particular training
can help me stay up to date with the latest evidence-based practices, instructional strategies, especially classroom
observation, coaching and mentoring and to enhance my instructional competence. Taking on leadership roles,
whether in mentoring other teachers, and leading professional development workshops is a heavy task. Trainings help
refine my leadership and communication skills, making me effective in these roles.
