Decision Support System [DSS] These are the computer program applications used by the middle management. To compile information from a wide range Of sources to support problem solving and decision making . A DSS is a computer based information system that support business or organizational ……. decision making activities.
WHY DSS B ecause decision making involves a complex sequence of activities over time. It implies there are at least three functions that should be assigned to DSS. The capability of capturing and saving information from previous activities. Data processing capability. Data retrieval capability.
Executive Information System [EIS] IT is a reporting tool that provides quick access to summarize reports coming from all company levels and departments such as accounting human resources and operations. Executive information system or [EIS] Is an information system designed and developed for the TOP LEVEL MANAGEMENT of an entity . Such people include the CEO,COO, department and unit heads [etc]

Marketing information System [MIS] The MIS designed specifically for managing the marketing aspects of the business. MIS is a set of procedures and methods for the regular planned collection, analysis and presentation of information for use in marketing decisions .

Advantages of MIS Giving an overall picture of the company and acting as a communication and planning tool . By using management information system, managers can have an overall brief look at the company. Quality of products also becomes good because all the past experiences and customers responses are noted. The decisions in the company are made in a timely manner. The information delivered to managers are well-structured and they can improve company performance.
Disadvantages of MIS As MIS in online connected so hacking is also done by 3 rd party people. In some cases, some sensitive data is stolen like credit card details of customers. MIS works on quantitative data and not quality data that is another drawback of this system. Effectiveness is also a problem in this system which means top management team can be fired at any time . Highly sensitive requires constant monitoring. Lack of flexibility to update it.
CONCLUSION MIS differ from regular information system because the primary objectives of these system are to analyze other systems dealing with the operational activities in the organization MIS is most of ten tailored to the automation or support of human decision making. As organizations grows , MIS allows information to move between functional areas and departments instantly, reducing the need for face to face communication among employees, thus increasing the responsiveness of the organization.
