How to calculate Vaccine wastage rate Vaccine usage rate (%) Number of immunized [(#of usable doses + #of doses received ) at the beginning of the period] -[ number of usable doses in stock at the end of the period ] 100 Vaccine wastage rate (%) = 100% -vaccine usage rate (%)

Estimating vaccine needs by target population Estimate by target population when you have reliable demographic data Total Doses for year = Target population × number of doses for antigen × coverage target × wastage multification factor (WMF) example :- MR total doses= 0-11 month population × 2 × [(target population coverage of 1 st dose )+ ( target population coverage of 1 st dose )] × wastage multification factor (WMF

Wastage multiplication factors(WMF) = 100 100-wastage rate for routine

Annual coverage rate for a vaccine dose:- Number of infants who received dose during the last 12 months Annual target population 100

Annual target may be number of pregnant women or number of infants <1 years old Eg . Pentavalent 1 can be calculated by using formula .

Dropout rate:- Number of dropouts = Cumulative total for first dose in series – cumulative total for last dose in series Dropout rate = { total for first dose in series – cumulative total for last dose in series } ×100
