2. Importance of water British poet W.H. Auden once noted, “Thousands have lived without love ,not one without water”. Yet while we all know water is crucial for life.

3. What is water pollution ? Water pollution occurs when harmful substances often chemicals or microorganisms-contaminate a stream river, lake, ocean or other water body degrading water quality and rendering it toxic to human or the environment.

4. Industrial water pollution Industrial waste is define as waste generated by manufacturing or industrial processes. The type of industrial waste generate include cafeteria, garbage, dirt and gravel, oil, solvents, chemicals and similar wastes.

5. Types of industrial waste Industrial waste may be solid, liquid or gaseous held in container is divided into two types Hazardous waste- Cleaning fluids, paints or pesticides. Non-hazardous waste- That do not meet the EPA’s definition of hazardous waste.

6. Industrial waste may be toxic, ignitable, corrosive or reactive. If improperly managed, this waste can pose dangerous health and environmental consequences. Waste water from manufacturing or chemical processes in industries contributes to water pollution.,

7. Effects of Industrial Pollution Polluted water by industries is unsuitable for drinking, agriculture and for other activities. It diminishes the aesthetic quality of lakes and rivers, more seriously contaminated water destroys aquatic life and reduces its reproductive ability eventually, it is a hazard to human health.

Many industrial products contain some really dangerous material such as mercury, lead and many more. This waste not just effects on the marine ecosystem as well as the soil too.
