When we think of "sacrificial giving" we typically think of the widow who gave God her two small coins. However, the greatest example of sacrificial giving is Jesus. She gave all that she had. Jesus gave all that he was. In our text today in Philippians 2:5-11 we will consider Jesus' rollercoaster ride from the heights of his heavenly pre-existent glory, through the limitations he took on in the incarnation, to the very depths of His death on the cross. We will also focus on the Father's exaltation of Jesus and His return to His heavenly home and glory. As we explore this journey we will see the depths of Jesus' love for us, an example of humble service that should motivate us to give everything to God, not just what we can part with comfortably. That includes our greatest treasures, our time and our pursuit of power.
