Wearable IOT Devices for Health & Fitness Health Monitoring

Abstract Wearable technology and the Internet of Things (IoT) offer a compelling approach for the continuous monitoring of fitness data. Non-invasive sensors significantly improve various aspects of quality of life and facilitate remote fitness tracking. This study explores the advancements in wearable technology and IoT by envisioning networks of health monitoring systems. It introduces a framework that has proven effective in environmental monitoring and can be adapted for the healthcare sector to enhance the integration and understanding of patient health information.

This framework is grounded in a precise representation of human perception. Similar to the framework utilized in forest fire monitoring, the proposed model consists of three levels: Sensors, Integration and Association, and Application and Diagnostics. The Sensors level outlines contemporary systems and the relevant data collection sensors. Keywords: Monitoring, Sensors, Framework, Healthcare, Health, Integration, Data, Diagnostics, Technology, Patient.

Introduction In the Last decade, Public engagement with technology and artificial intelligence has increased remarkably. The emergence of the IOT era, progress in low power mobile networks, affordable electronics, and smaller sensors dimensions have propelled the advancement of wearable technology.  The most relevant definition of wearable electronics is the following: “devices that can be worn or mated with human skin to continuously and closely monitor an individual's activities, without interrupting or limiting the user's motions”.

Introduction The field of wearable health monitoring systems is moving toward minimizing the size of wearable devices, measuring more vital signs, and sending secure and reliable data through smartphone technology.  The objective of this paper is to review wearable health care devices both in scientific papers and commercial efforts. Our aim is to address the most important wearable devices, which measure effective parameters in health status directly.

Problem statement A key problem with wearable IoT devices for health and fitness is the need to develop technology that can accurately and reliably collect continuous health data from users while maintaining data privacy and security, overcoming limitations like short battery life, ensuring user comfort and seamless integration with existing healthcare systems, all while addressing potential inaccuracies in sensor readings and ensuring interoperability between different devices from various manufacturers .

OBJECTIVE The objective of wearable IoT devices for health and fitness is to continuously monitor and collect real-time data on a user's vital signs, activity levels, and other health metrics, providing personalized insights and actionable feedback to promote proactive health management, improve fitness goals, and potentially detect early signs of health issues through seamless integration with mobile applications and healthcare systems; ultimately empowering individuals to make informed decisions regarding their wellbeing and lifestyle choices.
