Web App Examples

1. Google Docs Google Workspace, the Google office suite, is one of the most popular collections of web apps. Google Docs is used to collaboratively create and automatically save documents. It is part of Google Drive, which was launched in April 2012. A user can create or edit Microsoft Word, PDF, and text files with the app. This web app can be accessed from any device on any operating system. Google workspace apps are also available as mobile app downloads.  Google Docs is an online word processor that lets you create and format documents and work with other people. Step 1: Create a document To create a new document: On your computer, open the Docs home screen at  docs.google.com . In the top left, under "Start a new document," click Blank . You can also create new documents from the URL  docs.google.com/create .

Step 2: Edit and format To edit a document: On your computer, open a document in Google Docs. To select a word, double-click it or use your cursor to select the text you want to change. Start editing. To undo or redo an action, at the top, click Undo  or Redo . Note:  To edit a document on a touchscreen device, like a Pixel Book, double-tap the document to start typing. You can add and edit text, paragraphs, spacing, and more in a document. Format paragraphs or font Add a title, heading, or table of contents Step 3: Share & work with others You can share files and folders with people and choose whether they can view, edit, or comment on them.

Microsoft Office Suite Originally, the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint , etc.) had to be installed onto your computer, with saved files on your hard drive. Like Google Workspace, Microsoft Office is now a hugely popular online suite of products with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint available as web apps. Collaboration is easy since users can securely work on shared files online, and collaborative tools like Teams are now part of the suite.

Netflix The Netflix is an American entertainment media company founded by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph on August 29, 1997. By the end of 1997, the company had already released its first original movie on DVD, and the company reached $27.7 million in revenue. Reed Hastings is the current CEO of Netflix. In 1997, the company changed its name from "NFLX" to "Netflix". One of the top video-streaming platforms is also a web app. Netflix allows paying users to watch movies and tv shows on-demand with no limitations . And, as with other web apps, it’s accessible across devices and operating systems.

Facebook According to Facebook , the company was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg through the creation of the website www.facebook.com. The company went from a simple Harvard dorm room project to be one of the largest companies in the world, making hundreds of millions every month. Facebook has grown to be able to reach into various cultures. From all different places, people of different backgrounds are able to connect with people all over the world. Facebook is an online social networking service. Users on the site can create a personal profile and keep in touch with others by sending virtual gifts, messages, or invitations.

MakeMyTrip India’s leading travel company has about eight million visitors to their site on a monthly basis, with mobile traffic accounting for two-thirds. MakeMyTrip offers  flight tickets to many, villas and apartments, rail and bus tickets, cab service, and hotel booking services on its portal . As mobile becoming the most preferred channel for booking among MakeMyTrip customers, they developed a PWA that led to a fast, reliable and polished mobile-web experience. Uber The Uber PWA is designed to make car booking viable on low-speed, 2G networks. Built around the concept of an app-like experience which is accessible on all modern browsers, The PWA is great for riders on low-end devices, which may not be compatible with the native Uber app.

Spotify   Your favorite music player is now PWA-powered. Due to some disagreement between Spotify and Apple regarding Apple’s 30% app store commission, Spotify found it a timely opportunity to start developing a PWA version of their app—as many other big brands have. Compared to its native-app counterpart, the PWA version is considerably faster with its own unique and adaptive UI that changes its background as the user progresses through the app. Like many other PWAs, users are also prompted to add Spotify PWA to their home screen, making Spotify PWA more accessible with its other versions.

Yummly Yummly is the smart cooking discovery platform that learns an individual’s taste, nutrition needs, skill level and more to recommend personalized recipes, shopping lists, and one-hour grocery delivery. Amazon also offers Amazon Prime , which is a membership that provides free 2-day shipping for select items along with other benefits. It is one of the many top brands and a huge company that is ranked 1 in the world. The company started in Jeff Bezos ' garage in 1994 and has since grown into one of the biggest and most disruptive companies in the world.

Amazon Web Services AWS needs no formal introduction, given its immense popularity. The leading cloud provider in the marketplace is Amazon Web Services. AWS has customers in over 190 countries worldwide, including 5000 ed -tech institutions and 2000 government organizations. Many companies like ESPN, Adobe, Twitter, Netflix, Facebook , BBC, etc., use AWS services.  Cloud Computing Cloud computing is the delivery of online services (such as servers, databases, software) to users. With the help of cloud computing, storing data on local machines is not required. It helps you access data from a remote server. Moreover, it is also used to store and access data from anywhere across the world.

What is AWS? Amazon web service  is an online platform that provides scalable and cost-effective cloud computing solutions. AWS is a broadly adopted cloud platform that offers several on-demand operations like compute power, database storage, content delivery, etc., to help corporates scale and grow. Applications of AWS AWS enables businesses to build a number of sophisticated applications. Organizations of every industry and of every size, can run every imaginable use case on AWS. Here are some of the most common applications of AWS:- 1.
