COURSE DESCRIPTION

C2 in English (CEFR)

Around 135 hours

From 12th September 2024 to May 2025
IN-PERSON CLASSES
18:30: Only Tuesdays

Develop communication in varied situations
personal, academic, professional..in a
natural way, understanding and producing
texts with rich vocabulary and structures,
dealing with topics that are abstract and
concrete, of a general or specialized
character, in different registers and styles.

Speaking: debating, discussing, negotiating,
presentations (complex topics).
Reading: authentic books, internet,
newspapers.
Listening: interviews, YouTube, radio, news,
TV, TED talks.
Writing:xpressing opinions, discursive and
argumentative essays, articles, formal letters
(letter of complaint), making proposals,
reviews and reports.

Review grammar: inversion and fronting, emphasis,
review of all tenses, conditional sentences, adverbs
and adverbial phrases, expressing concession,
contrast, purpose and reason complex phrasal verbs,
comparatives, reporting and complex verb patterns
Review and learn vocabulary: related to
specialised and abstract topics, colloquial and
academic expressions, phrasal verbs, collocations,
binominals, similes and multi-word verbs. Topics that
will be dealt with include: personal description,
feelings and emotions, travel, technology, the
internet, scientific advances, the news and media,
the environment, money and business, books and
films, city and urban development, social problems
and health and fitness.

At least, one authentic book from a selection
you can find in Aula Virtual to share in a
book club class in February and for a book
review compilation in a padlet.

Oral presentation:
5 minutes based on an article from a recent
newspaper or magazine in English and
commenting on vocabulary at the end,followed
by a short discussion
online on Thursdays (18:30-19:00)

OBLIGATORY
 It is mandatory to attend, at least, 70%
of classes to be assessed by continuous
assessment in Convocatoria ordinaria
Everyone can do the exams in
“evaluación extraordinaria” in May,
even if they haven’t come to class.

Communicative, but YOU HAVE TO SPEAK,
PARTICIPATE and do the ONLINE WORK (mainly if
enrolled in a “curso semipresencial”.)

From textbook activities (grammar and
vocabulary).
Watch videos (answer questions, prepare
discussions)
Read articles (answer questions, prepare
discussions).
Write shorter or longer pieces.
Prepare and record oral presentations.

Now you are in, to be able to work, you will
have to register in the course, using the
enrolment code: C2124 on aula Virtual, at
the top of the page.

Listen to the radio in English, watch series
and films in English, talk to native English
Speakers, read newspapers, magazines,
books in English, go to the school’s library.
Come to class.

CONVOCATORIA ORDINARIA (CONTINUOUS
ASSESSMENT):
1. Informative assessment: WEEK 11-14th
NOVEMBER (it will be based on classwork and
work on Aula Virtual, a mark won't be given, it
will be based on a rubric).
2. January exam:  21st and 23rd JANUARY: this
will be worth 40% of the mark of Convocatoria
Ordinaria.
3. May exam (8th and 13th May): this will be 60%
of the mark of Convocatoria ordinaria.

1) Both exams must be done
2) In the May exam a minimum of 4 must be
obtained.
3) Attendance of 70% of the total hours of the
course  (including work on Aula Virtual)

The marks collected will be from each of the following five parts:
A minimum of 5 (out of 10) must be obtained in each part. If the
total averages 5, the course will be passed. Otherwise, they have
