Animal Euthanisia In Animal Abuse
As contemporary America continues to evolve the greatest threats to the lives of
cats and dogs no longer comes from infectious disease or predators, but from the
threat of being unowned or abandoned. Each year millions of animals are
relinquished to or rescued by shelters and each year millions of healthy and
potentially adoptable pets are euthanized for no reason other than lack of a home.
Animal euthanasia is an issue with very widespread reach, as approximately 2.7
million animals are euthanized in the U.S each year. The largest numbers of these
euthanizations take place in animal shelters, they are motivated by a variety of
factors including aggressive behavior, fatal illness or injury, and shelter
overpopulation. However, a vast majority of these are unacceptable as reasons due to
amount of preventative measures that can be taken to drastically decrease the rate of
animals euthanized each year. While most shelters share the common goals of trying
to reunite owners with lost pets, find homes for unowned animals, and providing
shelter and care for a vulnerable population it would seem that more and more are
instead playing executioner. Overpopulation of the companion animals in shelters is
a result of human establishment, and euthanasia rates reaching this high of a number
should be society s
Maynor 2 responsibility to mend. Animal euthanasia in United States shelters will be
reduced by increasing the spaying and neutering of pets, raise their standards for
staffing and

Taking a Look at Photographic Film
Photographic film A film can be defined as a material which is chemically reactive
and when exposed to a light source records a fixed or still image. In other words it
helps in capturing the image of a the photographed object, formed from the light
reflecting back from its surface. Technically it is a photographic material
consisting of a celluloid base that is covered with a photographic emulsion that is
later used to make the negatives or the transparencies that maybe contained inside
a roll, or maybe a cassette or a cartridge. A film, when developed will produce
transparent negatives. A negative film is a photographic image that is formed on
a narrow transparent strip of sheet whose surface is generally made up of plastic or
glass. It is a type of photographic image that shows the bright areas of the subject
photographed as dark and the dark areas of the subject as light. A negative film can
be found in all formats, and can be black and white or colour. A negative can produce
a positive image when light is made to pass through it. A positive image is actually a
normal image while a negative image is a total inversion were the light areas of the
picture becomes dark and the dark as light. Hence a positive is the final image. A
positive can also be made directly from a film, like transparencies ( were a film is
processed to give a positive image directly rather than to give a negative ) what is it
made up of film is actually a light sensitive emulsion on top of a

Arguments Against Women In Military Combat
Women in Military Combat
Women have served various roles in the military over the years. However, their
participation in combat role has always been debatable. History has highlighted a
number of women who have served in the military either intentionally or
unintentionally particularly in combat roles. During the Second World War, women
from different countries such as Britain and Germany served in combat roles (Megan,
32). However, this was short lived as many countries continue to bar women
participation through adoption of various policies. This is because different
individuals hold varied opinions and views on the issue. There are about 16
countries in the world which allow women to participate in combat roles .This paper
is going to discuss why women should be allowed to serve in military combat.
Women should be allowed in the military combat because they can complete the
same physical tasks as men with proper training. This is because women have been
able to successfully accomplish tasks that have been perceived in the past as preserve
for men. The argument that women lack physical ability to ... Show more content on

They argue that even though they can accomplish the same physical tasks like men,
they are not naturally as strong as they lack the muscle strength that is required to
serve in combat roles of the military. Muscle strength is necessary to carry the heavy
weapons and in fighting the enemy. This therefore puts them at greater risk of injury
and target by the enemy (Simons 451). In addition, they state that female are
averagely shorter than their male counterparts and have less upper body strength that
is essential for endurance in the military. Furthermore, they state that women have
dense skeletal system that is prone to breakages. Lastly they state that the shooting
accuracy of women is much less compared to that of men in combat

Impact of WWII Essay
Impact of WWII
World War II had a definite impact on the United States. It changed how people
lived and how other people were viewed. Not many people realize the treatment of
people from our own country during World War II. Three groups of people that
were affected were women, African Americans, and Japanese Americans. The lives
of these people were changed drastically, whether by having to work, mistreatment
because of skin color, or by being blamed for something that was done by a country
they were native to. Prior to World War II, employers and the government held that
there were jobs appropriate for women and jobs which were inappropriate because
women were not capable of fulfilling the tasks involved in such work. As we ... Show

African Americans were discriminated against even though they were serving their
country. Like we discussed in class, some African Americans were lynched in public
while dressed in their military uniform. Many were severely beaten almost to death.
They were treated with no respect. As I looked through my notes I found that African
Americans were grouped together in combat and often were given missions that could
have been considered suicidal. Although the blacks were treated poorly, it seems that
the Japanese Americans got the raw end of the deal during the war. Shortly after the
United States entered into war with Japan, the federal government initiated a policy
whereby 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry were rounded up and herded into
camps, 2/3 of these people were actually United States citizens. They were
incarcerated without indictment, trial, or counsel not because they had committed a
crime, but simply because they resembled the enemy. These were similar to
concentration camps that the Germans were using for the Jews, though no one was
being killed and Japanese Americans were allowed to work within the camps. Not
many Americans knew about the camps at that time, and some still don t know
today. Like discussed in class, it was an embarrassing moment for this country. The
book that was assigned in class, Desert Exile by Yoshiko Uchida, told the story of a
family who lived through these horrible times. As we discussed in class

Case Study On Psychotrauma
Introduction
The Greek word for wounded trauma encompasses two major domains: physical
trauma and psychological trauma (psychotrauma). Psychotrauma is the experience
of an emotional wound or shock of lasting effect (O connor, 2005). In this case
report, it will be examined how Jane is affected by her traumatic experience of self
injection, and how she coped with her anxiety.
Background
Diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) at the age of 19, Jane struggled to accept
the diagnosis that is typically diagnosed in older patients. The initial round of
medication was aggressive, which included medicine used to treat cancer. This saw
the young patient having to ingest more than 10 pills daily. It was only until a year
later when she changed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Translated from Swedish to English, the 18 item IPSA describes anxiety provoking
situations, rated on a 0 to 4 Likert scale (range 0 to 72), ranging from no anxiety to
max distress . Also translated from Swedish, the IPSAV comprises of the same items
as the IPSA. The situations, however, are measured for avoidance on a scale of 0 to 2
(range 0 to 36), with 0 being never and 2 being always . Results
Jane had a score of 45 on the IES R (Appendix E). On this test, a score higher than
24 can be meaningful. Jane s score of 45 falls into the range of 37 or more , which
has a consequence of the symptoms being high enough to suppress one s immune
system s functioning, even 10 years after an impact event. Comparatively, this
translates to a score of approximately 39, on the original IES. According to Jane s
results on the IES R, she experienced symptoms from the three sub scores avoidance,
intrusion and hyperarousal.
Moreover, the considerably high scores of 48 and 31 on the IPSA and IPSAV
(Appendices C and D) respectively, further reinforces the anxiety and avoidance
symptoms that Jane experienced. This gives us the consensus that Jane was under
tremendous distress as a result of the ongoing traumatic experience of self injecting.

Immanuel Kant s Formalism Theory
Kant s Formalism Theory The theories of Immanuel Kant, a German philosopher,
have had an impact on the formulation and shaping of ethics today. Immanuel Kant
graced this earth from 1724 to 1804. During his eighty year life time, he formulated
many interesting ideas regarding ethical conduct and motivation. Kant is strictly a
non consequentialist philosopher, which means that he believes that a person s
choices should have nothing to do with the desired outcome, but instead mankind
simply goes about doing good because it is morally correct. Kant theorizes that
moral reasoning is not based on factual knowledge and that reason by itself can
reveal the basic principles of morality. Ideas contemplated and developed and
theorized by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you want to reach a specific goal, then you will accomplish these tasks. On the
other hand, categorical laws apply to everyone. Regardless of goals or desired
outcome, the categorical imperative commands unconditionally. (Shaw, 67) Kant
developed another idea which exemplifies that of the categorical imperative. The
principle of universal acceptability states that as rational, moral beings, individuals
are bound by logic and its demands. Because logic is consistent, individuals all live
by the same moral law. in order to determine whether a rule is a moral law, we can
thus ask if the rule commands would be acceptable to all rational beings acting
rationally. (Shaw, 67) Kant s view of universal acceptability appears to be
intertwined with echoes of the golden rule. Another famous theory developed by
Kant further explaining the categorical imperative is the idea of humanity as an
end and never merely as a means. Individuals should never treat someone a special
way in an effort to get gain. In other words, Kant developed the theory we hear in
nursery school of, treat others as you would like to be treated. Logically, this theory
states that rational beings recognize their worth and the worth of others. As a rational
thinker, one would not want to be used as a means to an end. Immanuel Kant s
formalism theory poses many compelling and interesting points of view. On the
surface, the categorical imperative seems to be a great measuring device

Ethical Dilemmas Of Police Officers
Introduction Law enforcers are supposed to hold the ideals of honesty, integrity and
responsibility at all times in the line of duty. This is even more profound for police
officers whose work should always inspired confidence among the communities they
serve and protect. In fact, one of the core values that policeofficers ought to uphold
at all times is inspiring public trust. A huge percentage of police officers use their
positions and authority to serve the public while upholding the highest standards of
ethics at all times. However, on most occasions, just like in any other profession,
law enforcers are faced with a multitude of ethical dilemmas. Ethical dilemmas occur
when an officer faces a situation where he does not know the right course of action,
when the course of action considered as right is difficult to follow or when following
the wrong course of action was very tempting.
One of the greatest dilemmas that police officers face on a daily basis is with regard
to obtaining and or using confidential information. This is the most sensitive ethical
issue that has faced the police force over the past decade. The advent of digital
information communication technology has a huge potential of enhancing policing
activities. However, most of the information that has the ability to enhance policing is
mostly held confidentially. Following the enactment of the Intelligence Authorization
act, police were given the authority to request data on when, where and for how

Essay about William Faulkner s Absalom, Absalom!
William Faulkner s Absalom, Absalom! When asked by his Canadian roommate,
Shreve, to [t]ell about the South. What s it like there. What do they do there. Why
do they live there. Why do they live at all , Quentin Compson chose to tell the story
of Colonel Thomas Sutpen (142).The previous summer, Quentin had been
summoned by Miss Rosa Coldfield, the sister of Sutpen s wife, to hear the story of
how Sutpen destroyed her family and his own. In Miss Rosa s home, he sat
listening, having to listen, to one of the ghosts which had refused to lie still even
longer than most had, telling him about old ghost times (4). Over the course of that
summer, before his arrival at Harvard, Quentin was drawn deep into the story of this

The conflict arose after the Christmas of 1860 when Sutpen informed his son
Henry that Charles Bon, one of Henry s classmates, was his half brother and of
mixed racial background. Under these circumstances, Sutpen contended that Judith,
his daughter, could not marry Charles Bon. Henry refused to believe this
information about the classmate he idolized and, in turn, renounced his father, his
family, and the very roof under which he had been born (10). He promptly fled
Sutpen s Hundred alongside his half brother and headed for Bon s home in New
Orleans. Shortly afterwards, the South renounced the Union and seceded, forming an
independent sovereignty and starting the Civil War. During the war, Sutpen s
Hundred, like the rest of the South, experienced devastation. The land was torn up
because most of the battles were fought on Southern soil and the region, primarily
agrarian, struggled to support itself without the help of the industrial North. Sutpen
s wife, Ellen, and his daughters, Clytie and Judith, spent the four years of the war
scrounging for food and wearing rags. Judith now rode into town in the made over
dress which all Southern women now wore, in the carriage still but drawn now by a
mule, a plow mule, soon the plow mule, and no coachman to drive it either to tend to
the wounded soldiers in the improvised hospital in Jefferson (99). Further, Wash

Recycling
Is It Best to Keep or Replace?
I.Introduction
Earth s total resources are only good for 2 billion people at the current demand,
according to The World Counts . However, our population as of now is 7.5 billion
people. The idea of recycling was not to address until the year 1970. The motto then
was Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (Bradbury, 2014). Overall, the sum of this matter is the
consumption of a resource is faster than it can be replenished. Causes for resource
depletion are overpopulation, overconsumption that reverts to waste, deforestation
that concludes with the destruction of ecosystems along with leading loses of
biodiversity. Adding with mining of minerals and oils, technology and industrial
development, and lastly pollution and contamination resources
(TheWorldCounts). The philosophy behind the general idea of recycling is towards the
demands of We get what we want when we need it . With that type of mindset, it
diverts to the main reason of why our resource is being depleted at a fast rate.
Although, no matter what direction the issues face, it still remains as a fact that we
consume more resources than we can replenish. That is why it is necessary to
recycle but it is not efficient for the time being. If manufacturers made everything
biodegradable (such as cardboard) that issue can be alleviated.
II.Both sides of the issue
The pros for recycling are reducing waste in landfills and having more reusable
items to be a common thing for our everyday life. Recycling is promoted as being a
thing of the future, so as to help us (humans) save the resources that are given to
us. If we follow the saying A little goes a long way things would be salvage so to be
used for a longer time. However, the case is not always that way. Plastics being in
the top 3 materials to being recycled, is also the number one thing to be made
(care2.com). It s one of the main items that are recycled daily. It helps in limiting
certain resources that are used commonly, for example, wood flooring. Instead of
using original wood from the trees, there are alternatives of WPC which is wood
plastic composite. It uses less wood and more plastic, allowing the trees to be cut
down less and plastic to produce more often. But, with a factor

William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice Essay
William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice
The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare features, Shylock a very
controversial character due to his religion, profession and personal traits.
Professionally Shylock lends money to people in debt, in order to gain interest and
profit. Although, this is very much central to our modern way of life, in the
Elizabethan period, money lending was not accepted as an acceptable profession.
Throughout The Merchant of Venice Shylock is portrayed as menacing, inhumane and
slightly eccentric, yet at times misunderstood and induces sympathy from the reader.
His personal traits and beliefs evoke complex emotions. We cannot decide whether
Shylock is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sympathy is created, as it is apparent that Shylock cannot trust, nor befriend anyone
in the play, not even his own daughter. This is clear evidence of one way in which
Shylock is more sinned than sinning.
Shylock places profit above love. When Jessica, his daughter, steals from him and
leaves him, it is clear that Shylock is very distraught. However, it is difficult to
ignore what appears to be Shylock s priority the loss of money. As, money lending
is Shylock s profession; it is obvious money is very important to him. When
discussing the loss of his daughter and ducats, Shylock describes how he would rather
his money returned to him than his daughter and would infact like to have revenge
against her.
Shylock: I would my daughter were dead at my feat, and the jewels in her ear.
Immediately it is clear how heartless, inhumane, unforgiving and sinister Shylock is.
To place profit above the life of his daughter demonstrates how wrong Shylock s
priorities are and is clear evidence of how Shylock is sinning.
Shylock is more sinned against than sinning by the fact that every character in the
play is against him. Shylock has no family or friends to rely upon or trust. He is
constantly mocked and insulted by many characters throughout The Merchant of
Venice . The first

Case Study Of A Low-Income Client
p. 68
1.) As much as I would want to help a low income client who is struggling to pay
for the counseling services, if the money was not available, I am not so sure I could
help them. I would strongly empathize with that individual and would struggle to
accept that I am turning down a person. It would also be difficult for me to have that
conversation with the client. However, I want to be a person who is fair to all of my
clients. If I was the social worker in case 2.34, I would not feel right taking the
client s artwork for counseling services. If another client asked me where I got the

friend relationship than a professional client relationship. I would not ... Show more

I would wonder what has made her life so miserable. Clearly the fact that she was
physically and sexually abused would contribute to this, but I would assure her
that I would be willing to work with her and process these things. I would want to
give her a sense of hope, knowing that she should have a long life ahead of her. I
should utilize my faith in explaining to her the purpose of life. In regards to
whether or not she should be able to make this choice, I would look into the
informed consent, being this girl is only 16 years old. This might be a situation in
which the parents have the ultimate decision of whether or not the young girl will
receive treatment. If the parents forced her to receive treatment, I would walk
alongside her in the journey and help her process what is happening and hopefully
I would help her find meaning in her life. I am not sure if I think the girl has the
right to refuse medical care. She is only 16, so I would not want to watch her refuse
the care she needs. In addition, she is not yet an adult, however, she is still her own

Passionate About Women s Reproductive Rights
Something I feel very passionate about women s reproductive rights. As a
Christian I believe that it s not right to take any life for granted, but I think it s
even more important is not imposing my ideals on someone else. I think every
women should have control over her body. Only females to impose my ideals on
other people. Females are gifted with the blessing of a child baring woum.
Sometimes situations are unfortunate and terrible. I never will be in the shoes of the
women next, nor will she be in mine. Why should I be the one to make the decision
that will transform her life. I understand that an unborn child has a heart and is just
as much of a person as I am, but I know that things happen for a reason. For example,
my father had multiple... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Something terrible must have happened to the person before an abortion is even
an acceptable thought. Then others say that even in cases of rape the woman must
keep the child. It s true that the child is not at fault for the tragedy, but should
someone who has never felt the pain and the helplessness of rape be allowed to
make that choice for those forced to experience it? Even if the woman only wants
an abortion due to the fact that she is not prepared then who am I to decide how
she will be forced to spend her time, money, energy, and the next 18 years of her
life on? Also, if abortions were banned completely then women would just receive
an unregulated, unsafe, and illegal abortion. Those who think the that drugs are the
most important things in life will find a way to get them, those who believe they
need a gun because their life is threatened will find a gun, and those who think an
abortion is the only thing that will let them go on with their life will find someone
who is willing to perform the surgery. My second question was chosen because I feel
that a group of people is making the decisions for the entire, and is enforcing their
way of life on millions who have completely different mindsets. But if the country
demands ignore that, then in what ways can they help prevent the pregnancy or help
once the baby has already

The Problems With Birds Migrating Birds
There are many issues with aircrafts interacting with wild birds. The birds can get
sucked into the plane engines and harm the plane causing it to lose power and
crash. Solutions are very limited due to birds migrating, you can put stuff in order
to keep local birds away, but you can t with migrating birds. There is research to be
done to figure out the best solution to this problem. There is two ways of looking at
this when birds hit planes causing damage to the plane or even bringing the plane
down. Much like, the canadian goosethat hit the plane and brought it down into the
Hudson River. This is a big wildlife conservation what we can do to stop this from
happening. There has been multiple studies done to see if lights will help the
birds see the planes coming so they will move out off the way of the oncoming
planes. The other way of looking at it is the planes harming the way the birds are
living. A lot of airports are by where the birds will nest. Also, the noise of the plane
interferes and hurts the roosting and feeding of the birds. This is a big wildlife
management if these birds are being bothered and put out of the way of where the
birds are supposed to live, then there are solutions for new airports being built in
different, birdfree, areas. The top priority is to keep the wild birds safe and to keep
them in their way of life and not to alter the way the birds live.
A plane was downed over New York when a bird was sucked into the jet engine.

Descriptive Essay On The Park
I was walking towards the park my father always took me to do my project when I
was little, Let me go! I heard a girl scream.
I tried to see where it was coming from, as I looked across the green grass wondering
if it was my imagination or not. The grass had been recently mowed and the trees
had animals on them as if the whole city was perfect. I heard it again, Please let me
go!
I decided to put my textbooks and the designing journal down on the bench. In the
city we live in, there is no crime so nobody would steal my stuff. I tried to hear
where the scream came from. As I walked around the whole park, the sound grew
fainter. I found where the sound was coming from. I hid behind a big, green, and
growing tree. She looked tired but strong. The guards didn t look happy. It was rare
seeing them since there is no crime in Yasashi. They had her in handcuffs. She
scanned the park. We locked eyes. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of purple. Her
eyes were a like mine. Except my eyes were a little brown and slowly turned
purple. In Yasashi it was common for people to have brown eyes. So it was rare
seeing another person like me who had purple eyes. So it was rare seeing another
person with purple eyes. She was dressed in a blue muscle tee with black leather
skinny jeans. Her hair is blue ombre hair and short, it complimented her purple eyes.
She was dressed like she was ready to fight anyone. While I was dressed in a dark

Proof Jesus Resurrection

Proof of the Resurrection Jesus was raised from the dead can be proven. I have
learned this from reading the book The Case for the Resurrection of Jesus. All the
points in this book are very solid proof of Jesus resurrection. The book clearly
provides evidence which leads me to this Bible verse. For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life (KJV, John 3:16). Jesus being raised from the dead
has good solid evidence that it happened. I have learned from the minimal facts
approach that one can solidly defend Jesus Resurrection. These minimal facts are
strongly attested ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think a main one would be that God does exist. If the Resurrection did not happen
how could God even exist. God was the one who raised Jesus from the dead. So,
this gives evidence of God existing in Heaven. Habermas and Lincona said, The
writers of the New Testament asserted that it was God who raised Jesus from the
dead (136). Someone might say that science proves no one comes back to life.
Scientifically no one will rise from the dead due to natural causes. It is not implied
that Jesus came back to life naturally (Habermas and Licona 136). The Resurrection
is not an isolated event; it occurred in an interconnected religo historical context that
helps to provide meaning, Habermas and Licona said (136). If the Resurrection
explains that God exists, then I believe also that this means the Creation happened
just as it says in the Bible in Genesis. Everything was created by

Jerry s Through The Tunnel
Jerry is one of the main characters in the short story, Through the Tunnel. Jerry is an

He tries everyday and never gives up. He also is looking for his mothers appreciation
and approval at times. At the end of the story, Jerry feels that he has accomplished

their parents and friends. I have struggled to deal with this, but I still think positive
and never give up. One time in my life I wanted to be accepted as a cool person. I
never was accepted but peer pressure made me fall for it. During my sixth grade
year, I was bullied for various things. I always look back to that because it is a
memory I won t ever forget. That s when I knew I wanted to be a coveted as
someone s friend. Today, I want to be accepted by my parents. They have had their
difficulties so I just try to deal with it day by day. Jerry does the same. He wants to
show the local older boys that he can do swim through the tunnel too just like
them. He is wanting attention and approval from them, but most of all he wants to
accomplish his goal. Jewry wants to show himself that he can do anything if he
sets his mind to it. He wants to succeed by swimming through the tunnel. He wants
to face his fears. Jerry may also feel that he has to be stronger and more mature
because he doesn t have a father. He wants to show his mother that he could be the
new man of the house. Jerry may also feel hurt that he has no male figure to look
up. I can also relate to this because sometimes I wish I had a male figure to look up
to, but I don t have one so I can feel how the emotional pain is. It hurts, but it s life.
You have to deal with it. It may hurt at times, but you have to get through all the
pain emotionally. Jerry could have also felt that he had to mature because of the
loss of his father. I sometimes feel this way, however I had to mature at a younger
age due to circumstances. All in all Jerry risked

Questions On The Theories Of Justice
In this chapter, I aim to review and survey Karen Lebacqz s six theories of Justice.
This is essential if, as I will show later, these theories of justice will necessarily be
implied in the founding documents and covenants of major social institutions in
western civilization.
Justice: Utility In its most basic definition, utilitarianism argues, The right thing to do
is to produce the most good. According to John Stuart Mill, utility or the greatest
happiness principle requires that actions are right in proportion as they tend to
promote happiness; wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness.
Therefore, happiness is understood as intended pleasure and the absence of pain...
Tied to this principle of utility, Mill derives a foundation for understanding justice. He
argues, Justice implies something which is not only right to do, and wrong not to
do, but which some individual person can claim from us as his moral right.
Therefore, justice is a name for certain moral requirements which, regarded
collectively, stand higher in the scale of social utility, and are therefore of more
paramount obligation, than any others. In society, the feeling of morality is
juxtaposed to what Mill calls, the sentiment of justice, which is the animal desire to
repel or retaliate a hurt or damage to oneself or to others. Isolated, there is nothing
moral in this feeling. However, when this desire is outranked by the social
sympathies, when the desire for vengeance

Chinese Astrology
Chinese Zodiac The ShД“ngxiГ o (Chinese: з” џи‚–), better known in English as the
Chinese Zodiac, is a scheme that relates each year to an animal and its reputed
attributes, according to a 12 year mathematical cycle. It has wide currency in
several East Asian countries such as China and Korea and Japan. Identifying this
scheme using the term zodiac reflects several similarities to the Western zodiac:
both have time cycles divided into 12 parts, each labels at least the majority of those
parts with names of animals, and each is widely associated with a culture of
attributing influence of a person s relationship to the cycle upon their personality and

Chronological Order In A Rose For Emily
Joanna Martinez AP English Literature August 19, 2016 `A Rose for Emily by
William Faulkner Questions 1 and 5 Response A clear chronology of all the events
in Emily s life can be established in order although it is hard because Faulkner
moves back and forth with the narrator and townspeople. On page 281 of A Rose
for Emily, it begins with mentioning that the whole town went to Miss Emily s
funeral. Faulkner did something with A Rose for Emily that not many would
think of doing. When a story is written in chronological order, a reader is not
surprised with the ending and it does not have a suspenseful feeling. The readers
do not gain a strong feeling with any of the characters. If the reader were to read A
Rose for Emily in chronological order then they would not be left with an eagerness.
Faulkner changes the chronological order by leaving the climax for the end of the
story. This helps give the story become even more breathtaking. In the method that
Faulkner wrote his story, every reader could relate to the civilians in Jefferson.
Without Faulkner s chronological change, the readers would not have felt the way
they did when the story ended.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

HOBBITON
History:
In 1998 was when it all started ,looking for the perfect area of land suitable for a
village of Hobbits, Peter Jackson found the Alexanders family farm while he was
on a aerial search suitable for what they needed with pristine rolling grasslands, like
a slice of ancient England (Wikipedia TLOTR), looked as though Hobbits had
already begun excavations (Alan Lee ,set decorator). After some negotiations were
made with the Alexander family ,shortly after construction begun in March 1999
transforming the landscape into the set for Hobbiton. The New Zealand army also
got involved bringing heavy machinery to build a 1.5 kilometer road from the
nearest highway to the construction site. Peter Jackson wrote: I knew Hobbiton
needed to be warm, comfortable and feel lived in. By letting the weeds grow through
the cracks and establishing hedges and little gardens a year before filming, we ended
up with an incredibly real place, not just a film set (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki
/Hobbiton_Movie_Set).So much detail went into creating the perfect atmosphere for
the 37 Hobbit holes ,gardens and even hedges. In December 1999 filming
commenced for The Lord of the Rings and lasted for three months. The set, originally
built out of untreated timber, ply and polystyrene, was never meant to last, but only
for the duration that was needed however it became a place of interest for tourist.

Without question, Tom Robinson would be better off today.
He would be able to vote. He would have access to all public accommodations. He
could win a seat in Congress, be appointed to the Supreme Court, he could even be

In fact, Tom Robinson could live a life completely unimaginable and unrecognizable
to the characters in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird . No lynching s. No all white
male juries. No presumption of guilt based on skin color. No state sanctioned

Yet, Tom would realize a sad, but undeniable truth that racism is still alive and all too

Like Alabama in the 1930s, Texas in the 1950s was a place where separate never
meant equal. It was a place where colored water fountains did not spout brightly
colored water as a child might expect, but stood as symbols of racism, which meant
indignity, shame, and humiliation for some and indifference, false pride, and hate for
others.
At my old school, my teachers carefully avoided any mention of race, class, or
gender. Like Scout, I learned those lessons from my family. When Scout comes to
her father with questions about human behavior, he doesn t give her advice on what
to say or do. Instead, he tells her that the trick to understanding another person is to
consider things from his or her point of view. For nearly 15 years, that has been a
hard thing to conquer. We trust each other to wrestle with complex choices in the past
and present so that they will better understand the social mores of our time. We
encourage them to think critically and independently in much the way Atticus, Scout
s father, engages his children.
Like some people, Scout s teacher misses an opportunity to trust her students with
the complexities of history and human behavior. Each week at Scout s school, there
is a current events period where each student clips an item from a newspaper and
shares the contents with the class. In one lesson, a child, Cecil, shares his current
event: Old Adolf Hitler has been

Sports leagues should be responsible for player s off field Behavior. An author

Pesticide Pollution
Fertilizer and pesticide usage has increased dramatically worldwide, especially in
China. Twenty years of uncontrolled economic development have created serious,
chronic air and water pollution. In order to support China s growing population, the
country has drastically increased its usage of fertilizers and pesticides in the
agricultural sector. China consumes around a third of global fertilizers, with rapid
growth in use in recent years, driven largely by higher fruit and vegetable production.
Excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides threatens both public health and
agricultural productivity. Many farmers choose to use chemicals to keep weeds and
pests from destroying their crops while adding more nutrients to the soil. Yet such
benefits do not come without environmental costsnamely the pesticide pollution of
China s streams, rivers, lakes, and even coastal areas, as these toxic chemicals runoff
into nearby waterways, contaminating the food, drinking water causing massive
health problems.
While fertilizers and pesticides, as stated above, provide economic benefits for the
farmers in terms of increasing yields; but also provide adverse impacts. These
impacts on the environment are called negative externalities. According to
researchers, not many measures are being taken in order to enforce safe, organic, and
healthy fertilization. If a good has a negative externality, then the cost to society is
greater than the cost consumer is paying for it. Since

husband s addiction problem and after their separation things are not looking up.
She even states that all of the income went to his addiction, prior. Single
motherhood is anything but easy for Katrina and this is proven by the menagerie of
burdens she must bear on the daily in order to make a good life for her kids while

Analysis Of The Beatles Abbey Road
Four Beatles in a row, crossing the black and white zebra crossing on Abbey Road,
one so serious looking, one barefoot and smoking, one simply looking to keep up
with his friends and the fourth in white, hands in pocket and his face swathed in hair
compose the cover art of their last recorded album, Abbey Road. The album shows a
band still clearly in its prime, capable of songwriting and recording feats that other
groups could only envy. Working for the first time exclusively on an eight track tape
machine (Richardson), their mastery of the studio was undeniable, and Abbey Road
still holds its fresh and exciting appeal nearly forty seven years later. Following the
turbulent recording sessions for The Beatlesand Let It Be, longtime producer George
Martin was through with the Beatles. He eventually agreed to work with them
again after Paul McCartney pleaded with him, but only on the condition that
Martin would be in complete control in the studio, just like in the old days (Lifton).
The producer would later describe Abbey Road as a happy record... because
everybody thought it was going to be the last (Jones). Abbey Road marked the band
s going back to working together more like they used to, but as the people they had
now become in 1969; however, like the band themselves coming back together, the
songs on Abbey Road didn t immediately fall into place; they were the product of
much idiosyncratic Beatles brainstorming an activity one part music hall comedy

The Populist Party and the Farmer Reform Movement
Question: Detail the farmer reform movements of the Midwest and South in the
1870s, 1880s, and 1890s. Why did these groups emerge? What were the goals of
these groups? Discuss each major group from this era and the reforms they
inspired. Were their goals reasonable or too radical? The Populist Party had its
origins in the agrarian West. A lengthy and devastating drought, followed by a
depression, exacerbated the tensions between urban and rural interests and farmers
began to unite under the Populist banner. In the 1880s, as drought hit the wheat
growing areas of the Great Plains and prices for Southern cotton sunk to new lows,
many tenant farmers fell into deep debt. This exacerbated long held grievances
against railroads, lenders, grain elevator owners, and others with whom farmers did
business. By the early 1890s, as the depression worsened, some industrial workers
shared these farm families views on labor and the trusts (Edwards, The People s
Party, 2001). The Populists advocated a more radical platform than either of the two
major parties of the time, demanding a free silver platform, federal intervention to
help farmers, greater restriction upon corporate monopolies and anti poverty social
support legislation. They also supported female suffrage, statehood for the District of
Columbia, and Cuban independence. Although the Populists were often demonized
as hayseeds in the popular press, many of the issues they were concerned about

Horseman Crossing A Ford Analysis
Throughout the world, there are many different types of art pieces which can be
compared to each other for their form, technique, style, purpose, or theme. Though
some of these pieces might have never influnced each other, it can sill be apparent
that they have similar themes that are present. In the Moroccan Horseman
Crossing a Ford and Night Attack on the Sanjo Palace, it can be seen that the two
have a similar theme for the coming of, or result of war. The Moroccan Horseman

Community-Acquired MRSA
Abstract
Hospital settings have harbored a disease causing organism called Methicillin
resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) since the 1960s. However, hospitals aren t
the only settings at risk of a MRSA outbreak. In recent years healthy communities
have seen a genetically distinct strain of MRSA, called community acquired
methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA MRSA). Although this organism has
been less resistant to antibiotics, it is more virulent and capable of causing illnesses
(Alex Letizia, 2007). The community should be aware of the risk factors for this
infection and understand its signs, symptoms, and management.

Risk factors of CA MRSA include: skin to skin contact with an infected person, loss
of integrity allowing penetration of bacteria into the body, contact with contaminated
items and surfaces, crowded living conditions, sharing personal items, poor hygiene,
having a history of ectopic dermatitis, and exposure to family members or friends

coming into contact with a draining lesion or is a carrier of MRSA, and sharing

Difference Between Teaching And Teaching Styles
Even the smartest students have certain classes that they cannot focus in, no matter
how hard they try. Everyone knows that no one is exactly the same; for example,
identical twins may look identical at first glance, if you look more closely, you will
notice differences between the two. This basic concept applies to teachers and
professors too. Every teacher has a different teachingmethod, some people may think
that the teaching methods are the same, but it is slightly different. This difference
may be due to the different subjects that the teachers are teaching or just the
difference in personalities and teaching styles that each teacher has. These
differences greatly affect students performances in numerous of ways that one could
not possibly think of. I had observed in several of my classes to compare and
contrast different teaching styles from my professors and the students behaviors
depending on the subject and the professors. The classes that I have observed
include General Chemistry 1, Calculus 2 and Asian Behaviors and Thought (ABT).
Two of these classes are the main subjects with the last one is a general education
class in order to see the differences better and if there are any similarities. Calculus
2 and ABT are both classroom based courses. I chose to observe General Chemistry
1 because unlike the other two classes, this class is a lecture, which means there is no
doubt that the teaching methods of the professors would be different.
I have observed that in

Genetic Identity Of The Individual
Genetic Identity of the Individual Individuality is the quality or character of a
particular subject that distinguishes that subject from others of the same kind. Every
individual searches for and cherishes their individuality, their identity, their unique
role in the world. Humans are some of the most socially and psychologically
complex organisms in the world; global diversity and individual uniqueness are a
product of that complexity. Professional sociologists have long debated the power of
the world around us to shape our perception and thought process, thus playing a role
in the individual s world view and responses. Frida Kahlo visually represented the
influence of the environment on the individual with her painting, Self Portrait
Between the Borderline of Mexico and the United States, 1932, depicting two very
different worlds of Mexico and the United States, while also conveying her dismay at
the American influence that at the time was supplanting her traditional Mexican
heritage (Kahlo). This illustrates the impacts of a cultural environment on an
individual and their sense of identity. However, the creation of an individual is far
more than a conglomeration of outside influences, as environmentalist theory
believes. Everyone is born with a unique set of genetic traits that cause one to look,
think, and act different from others. The question that follows is how influential is
genetic identity in the development of the individual? Individuality is the result

Large retailers like Ross have a common problem of lacking diversity. It is usual
that in small retail stores new products can be changed from time to time upon
their arrival. But, in large retail store like Ross it is quite difficult because the bulk
purchase of products limits the diversified products. During my visit, I was able to
find variety of new collections of products in the store but it was not well
organized. Investing millions dollars of money on a particular product and selling it
in a short span of time is difficult, instead they can wait for the old stocks to get sold
and after if there is any change in trend money can be invested on newly trended

Analysis Of Greg Bishop s Finding Myself
Finding Myself by Greg Bishop is an article written about how Bishop was
mistaken for another man of the same name. Bishop, out of the blue, was asked
almost daily if he had lost weight or if he played in the NFL. Bishop was fully
aware he didn t fit the claims, so he looked into it. Turns out, there was a Wikipedia
article on the NFL player Greg Bishop, but his photo was replaced by the Bishop of
this article. Astounded, Bishop decided to get into contact with the NFL player. After
deep research and plenty of emails being bounced back, Bishop was able to find the
cellphone number of the other Greg Bishop. They talked and they found out they
have pretty similar backgrounds. I would have never thought an event like this would

Twin Personality Traits
Personality is a combination of people s genetics, forces in their environments, and
the life choices they make. A person s personality is their characteristic thoughts,
emotional responses, and behaviors. While personality traits are patterns of thought,
emotion, and behavior that is relatively consistent over time and across situations.
When you get to know some you start to predict how they are going to react to certain
situations. These predications are dispositions (Gazzaniga, Heatherton, Halpern).
There is evidence that personality comes from biological factors, such as genes, brain
structure, and neurochemistry) but environmental factors determine if they prevail.
James Loehlin did a study on twin personalities. He determined that identical twins
personalities are more similar than fraternal twins because they share similar genes.
Loehlin also found that parenting style has little to do with the personality of twins.
He discovered this by observing twins who grew up in separate families (Gazzaniga,
Heatherton, Halpern). Temperaments are biologically based tendencies to feel or act
in certain ways. There are three basic characteristics can be considered temperaments,

It occurs because people process information about themselves more deeply,
thoroughly, and automatically. This information is becomes part of the person s self
schema. Self schemas helps quickly perceive, organize, interpret, and use
information about the self. Our behaviors and personalities are important to our self
schemas. For example, being a good athlete or a good students may be a major
component of your self schema, where as having few cavities does not. When people
process information about themselves, activity happens in the frontal lobes. Damage
to the frontal lobes tends to alter how they see themselves (Gazzaniga, Heatherton,

Commodity In Sweetness And Power
According to the Oxford dictionary, commodity is any raw material that can be
bought and sold for economic means. That said, sugar and coffee are all
commodities, because they can be sold and bought for a monetary value. The
problem with this description however is that by simplifying the word commodity
into a material gain or based on money, it s undermining the value of the material
like its cultural worth and origin. Therefore, this is reason why when we buy sugar,
we see it based on its tastiness or its financial worth, but rarely as a material that can
cause social ,cultural and even historically difference; which is why the book
Sweetness and power is important in revealing the relational and historical fact about
sugar.

The Importance Of Privacy And National Security
The Importance of Privacy and National Security
Balancing the national security and individual privacy has been a controversial
issue in which the people of opposing opinions are working hard to ensure that
their voices are heard. Technology is evolving rapidly and the delivery of
information and services also have enhanced our lives and put us on cost. Maybe
five years from now, we will not be surprised if one day there will be a way to
change the humanity and hopefully improve the national security. Though, Facebook
already did change the perception of privacy, and there are more to come. While, it is
hard to understand the foundation and concept of national security and privacy in
cyberspace, it is important to know that to protect your privacy, you have to trust also
the government in protecting the nation from terrorism and other threats to humanity.
The one thing to do so is, to let the government do their job.
On the morning of Tuesday of September 11, 2001, the whole world shattered when
two airplanes crashed into the two towers of the World Trade Center in New York
causing it to collapse and killed thousands of people. The 9/11 attack, and attacked of
the Pentagon Headquarters, and Washington DC by the Al Qaida is one of the most
horrific and deadliest incidents happened in the American history. Thousands of lives
were lost and so many families were sacrificed that until now are haunting the lives of
most American people because of trauma (History.com).
