MEANING OF SANCTUARY

ANIMAL SANCTUARY Animal sanctuary is a facility where animals are brought to live and be protected for the rest of their lives.

WILDLIFE SANCTUARY It is an area owned by Government and set aside by notification in official gazette an undisturbed breeding ground for the protection of wildlife , like Dense forests, large rivers, high and beautiful mountains.

WILDLIFE SANCTUARY A wildlife sanctuary is an area where animals habitat(live) and their surroundings are protected from any sort of disturbance. The capturing, killing and poaching of animals is strictly prohibited in this region.

ACTS PROHIBITED IN WILDLIFE SANCTUARIES Entry or Residence Land Cultivation Water pollution Killing,Capturing,Hunting or Firing Introduction of Exotic species Upset of Food Chain

NO ENTRY OR RESIDENCE Any type of Construction under the area of wildlife sanctuary is not allowed The entry of any person is not allowed except voulanteer

NO LAND CULTIVATION Land of wildlife sanctuary can not be used for the purpose of cultivation. Deforestation for the purpose of cultivation destroys the natural habitat irrigation also affects freshwater species by polluting sanctuary.

NO WATER POLLUTION Water pollution is not allowed in wildlife sanctuary by any human activity like cultivation, constuction or get rid of sewage etc.

KILLING CAPTURING HUNTING AND FIRING NOT ALLOWED killing capturing and hunting result in loss of biodiversity and upset food chain. firing rises temp. results in reduction of gametes or spore formation. firing of fallen leaves decreases land fertility.

NO INTRODUCTION OF EXOTIC SPECIES

UPSET OF FOOD CHAIN There is a constant balance of food chain in a wildlife sanctuary. Any fluctuation at consumer or even at producer level may result into serious fluctuation and be a cause of wildlife losses.

HUB DAM WILDLIFE SANCTUARY Hub Dam Wildlife Sanctuary is located around Hub Dam in Balochistan and Sindh Provinces of Pakistan. The greater part of this wildlife sanctuary in Balochistan is unprotected; the eastern shore and area south of the Dam in Sindh are protected in the Kirthar National Park and Hub Dam Wildlife Sanctuary respectively. The lake formed by the dam covers an area of 32 square miles and is an ideal place for bird watching. There is plenty of waterfowl in the lake, both resident and migratory. CHASMA AND BARRAGE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY Chashma and Taunsa Barrage Dolphin Sanctuary is located in Mianwali District, Punjab, Pakistan. It was declared open to the public in 1972. Since the 1970s, the population of the Indus river dolphins has significantly increased there. A very important breeding, and wintering area for wide variety of waterfowl regularly 20000 birds it is the greatest preservation area for endangered indus dolphins.
