It focuses on increasing the Economical , Political , Legal , Educational and Spiritual Strength of Women

Status of women in ancient India: In ancient India women enjoyed equivalent status and rights like their male counterparts. In addition, they were properly educated in the early vedic period.

Women at that time had freedom to make their own decisions. They were free to choose their life partner as well. This system was popularly known as ‘Swyamwar’. In fact, during that period women had superior condition than men. However, the situation never remained the same in the Medival India!

Status of women in MEDIeVAL India: The status of women in India started falling during this period. Women were treated inferior than men in the practical life. They always had to suffer severe Gender Inequality. Let us have a look on how women are suffering since the medieval time…

Women were never given any right of liberty and equality.

Walk through the hall with every eye on me, Surrounded by four walls as far as I can see… Snickers, Sneers & laughter, Discrimination too! Taunted from on and after Because I’m not like you? I‘m different so you shun me... DISCRIMINATION

Leave me standing in the rain, You hurt me, though you see that I’m in pain… I hate discrimination among the world I see. If we are all one nation, Why this discrimination against me???

Before heading towards the need and importance of Women Empowerment, It is very essential to understand the importance of ‘Women’ in the society…

Women are the mos t important component of any society. A woman plays various roles in a person’s li fe. She in fact is the creator of li fe herself. Let us have a look on the place of Women in the society…

In Indian culture, woman is being worshipped as “Maa Durga” for Power, “Maa Lakshami” for Wealth, “Maa Saraswati” for Wisdom and as many more Goddesses…

As a Mother

As a Daughter

As a Sister

They are responsible for so many things that makes the biggest part of human society. However, the unfortunate part out of these responsibilities is that women are subjected to severe gender disparity, that ends up leaving them dead and disabled! The Question is…

??

?? Do they really deserve these sufferings in return of their Love, Care and Struggle?

They deserve to be Empowered…!!!

Now let us understand why is there a need for Women Empowerment Women constitute a great part of the population of the world. Unhappy women means unhappy societies. Women must be protected from any form of abuse and exploitation for the development of the society. Women need to be empowered because of the responsibilities they perform in the society.

Women need to be empowered because they are deprived of: Decision Making Power Freedom of Movement Access to Education Access to Employment Exposure to Media

Importance of Women Empowerment Women that constitute half of the population in India can garner b e tt e r d eve l o p m e n t o p p o r t un i t i e s t h a t will bring the National Development on the International front

A segment of women that is suppressed, if empowered through education and employment opportunities, they can take the GDP to a higher level.

W o m e n E m p o w e r m en t ca n c o n t ri b u t e a lot towards the Human Resource Development in the country.

If a woman is sufficiently ambitious, determined and empowered, there is practically nothing she can’t do…

Measures to facilitate Women Empowerment…

Providing education Self employment Providing minimum needs like nutrition, health, sanitation, housing Other than this, society should change the mentality of word “women”. encouraging women to develop in their fields they are good at and make a career .

In order to empower women in India , they must be provided with certain rights such as: Right to equality Right to Education Right to Decision Making Right to express their needs Right to mobility and social interaction etc.

Further, there is a great need to protect them from crimes which they keep on facing on a daily basis in India. Strict l a w s s h ould b e fo r mulate d i n order to reduce the crime against women .

Let us have a glance on the faces of Indian women who contributed towards the development of the nation…
