SYMBOLS The Astronaut Helmet: It is a symbol of Auggie’s own insecurity about the way he looks. The fact when the helmet was thrown out confirms that Auggie has lost his old insecurity. Star Wars: It is a symbol of his childhood . Daisy (the dog): It is a symbol of loyalty and love (unconditional love). No matter what Auggie looks like, Daisy loves him no matter what.

Symbol (part 2) 4. The universe: T he universe described is compared with her family and it’s explainecd the way their universe revolves around Auggie.

themes 1. COURAGE: When he decides to try public school (despite being very nervous) After meeting with the principal and talking with his parents 2. FRIENDSHIP: Christopher (childhood) At Beecher Prep → Summer and Jack (Jack’s firendship is more difficult)

THEMES 3. BEAUTY: Inner beauty is more important than physical beauty. 4. FAMILY: It is a source of comfort, emotional support and unserstanding. His facial deformities make it difficult for him to connect with people outside his family, so he leans on his parents and sister.

themes 5. KINDNESS: Divided into three groups. Those who treat August with kindness and those who don’t JULIAN He becomes into the antagonist of the novel because of his behaviour towards Auggie. SUMMER They never bully August and she behaves with kindness towards Auggie. JACK WILL The most difficult character to categorize. He betrays August and laughs at him behind his back, but he later apologizes for his actions. During the novel, Jack learns how to treat August with kindness, becoming a better person.
