The Senior Phase: Being Across the Important Stuff!

Where are we? How are you going? Working on assessments

Where to?

Next week:

Working towards your final submission: Review and action draft feedback Check the ISMG for clarity around expectations. Check references. Upload One Drive link for version history access. Version history shows progress of task from beginning to draft stage and then to final submission.

Assessment to be submitted by the advertised date. Student responsibility to seek extension in a timely manner, at least 2 days before. Medical documentation required. (HOF) Illness of a couple of days, is not sufficient grounds for extension, unless the timing of that illness is critical to a process of the assignment. Technology is not a reason for an extension – all work must be saved to the cloud. Advertised school events, such as participation in extra-curricular activities, are not grounds for extension. Submitted in advance of the timeline in the event of a known absence (e.g. holiday, school approved excursion/event) Version histories must be submitted in MyMtA as part of academic integrity. If you do not complete the assessment suite for your subjects, you are not considered for academic awards. Policies and Procedures – Key Points

Applying for Extension 2 days prior Signed by parent and student Medical documentation Emailed to HOF and teacher Hard copies available in Student Services Digital copies on MyMtA : Academics Tile

Exam block in 2 weeks (18/3 – 25/3)

Exam Block – Protocols for Year 10 – Year 12 Students During Exam Block Year 10 students may work from home unless they have a scheduled examination or ongoing work requirements in Applied and Certificate classes. Where an exam clashes with an Applied or Certificate class (at or outside the College), students must attend the examination. Additional expectations of students are outlined below: • Attendance on campus in full school uniform • Attendance at examination room with appropriate equipment no later than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Be on time – better still BE EARLY. • Students may not leave the College in between examinations scheduled on the same day • Students with one examination scheduled in a day must go directly home for study purposes

Exam Block – Protocols for Year 10 – Year 12 Students • It is your responsibility to have the correct equipment. You cannot borrow equipment from your peers during an exam. • Students not able to work from home, may work from the iCentre and must sign in and out. • Students who are unwell must have a medical certificate for the day of the examination, confirming that they are incapacitated. Contact must be made with the Dean of Senior Years: Mrs Mansfield. • Students must comply with ‘exam behaviours’ as per the Assessment Policy. These will be read to students as part of the examination process. • AARA students must check their AARA card for their exam accommodations and attend the correct room. Any questions about AARA should be sent to [email protected].

Taking time off for the purposes of study prior to the examination block is not permitted. Students must be in attendance for all classes unless they have a medical reason not to be. Students who have not submitted assignments by the due date will lose examination privileges. Please Note: The College will endeavour to reschedule examinations for students who are incapacitated on the day of an examination. Further details surrounding missed assessment can be viewed in the College’s Assessment Policy and Processes document (available on the MyMtA Policy and Procedures tile)

When you enter the room: LISTEN to the instructions announced by the supervisor (Examination Script)

Missed Examination Policy Family holidays, non-urgent appointments, attendance at TAFE are not acceptable reasons to miss published examination periods. Special circumstances include: Illness (which is usually prolonged or significant). In Years 11 and 12 illness applications must be supported by a medical certificate Misadventure – e.g. car accident on the way to school Significant family upheaval – e.g. death in the family Suspension An exam clash
