Uses of Zinetac 150mg and 300mg Tablets:
Zinetac Tablets (Generic Ranitidine Hydrochloride Tablets) is used to
treat ulcers of the stomach and intestines and prevent them from
coming back after they have healed. This medication is also used to
treat certain stomach and throat (esophagus) problems (such as
erosive esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease-GERD, Zollinger-
Ellison syndrome). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your
stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as cough that doesn't go
away, stomach pain, heartburn, and difficulty swallowing. Ranitidine
belongs to a class of drugs known as H2 blockers. This medication is
also available without a prescription. It is used to prevent and treat
heartburn and other symptoms caused by too much acid in the
stomach (acid indigestion).

Warnings
The possibility of malignancy should be excluded before commencement of
therapy in patients with gastric ulcer and in patients of middle age and over
with new or recently changed dyspeptic symptoms as treatment with
Ranitidine may mask symptoms of gastric carcinoma.
Ranitidine is excreted via the kidney and so plasma levels of the medication
are increased in patients with renal impairment. The dose should be adjusted
in patients with renal impairment.
Regular supervision of patients who are taking non-steroidal anti-
inflammatory drugs concomitantly with Zinetac tablets is recommended,
especially in the elderly. Current evidence shows that ranitidine protects
against NSAID associated ulceration in the duodenum and not in the stomach.

Warnings
Rare reports suggest that Ranitidine Hydrochloride may precipitate
acute porphyric attacks in patients with acute porphyria. Zinetac
tablets should therefore be avoided in patients with a history of acute
porphyria.
In patients such as the elderly, persons with chronic lung disease,
diabetes or the immunocompromised, there may be an increased risk
of developing community acquired pneumonia.
The prolonged use of H2-receptor antagonists, may impair the
absorption of protein-bound Vitamin B12 and may contribute to the
development of Cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) deficiency.

Zinetac Tablets and Alcohol
It is best not to mix Zantac and alcohol. It is possible for most people to
take Zantac with small amounts of alcohol safely, but it could be
dangerous. The dangers of mixing Zinetac and alcohol include
increased effect of alcohol. However, avoid consuming alcohol as it is
known to increase acidity and can make your acidity worse.

Possible Side Effects
Endocrine: Controlled studies in animals and humans have shown no
stimulation of any pituitary hormone by Ranitidine (Zinetac tablets), no
antiandrogenic activity, and cimetidine induced gynaecomastia and
impotence in hypersecretory patients have resolved when ranitidine was
substituted. However, occasional cases of breast conditions such as
gynaecomastia and galactorrheoa, impotence and loss of libido have been
reported in male patients receiving Ranitidine, but the incidence did not
differ from that in the general population.
Other: Rare cases of hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. fever, bronchospasm,
anaphylactic shock, rash, eosinophilia, urticaria, angioneurotic oedema,
hypotension, chest pain, rash, eosinophilia), small increases in serum
creatinine. Acute pancreatitis has been reported rarely.

Zinetac Tablets Overdosage
There has been limited experience with Ranitidine Hydrochloride
(Zinetac tablets) overdosage.
Reported acute ingestions of up to 18 g orally have been associated
with transient adverse effects similar to those encountered in normal
clinical experience. In addition, abnormalities of gait and hypotension
have been reported.
When overdosage occurs, the usual measures to remove unabsorbed
material from the gastrointestinal tract, clinical monitoring, and
supportive therapy should be employed.

Zinetac Tablets During Pregnancy
Ranitidine Hydrochloride (Zinetac tablets) has been classified by the
US FDA as Pregnancy Category B.
Reproduction studies have been performed in rats and rabbits at oral
doses up to 160 times the human oral dose and have revealed no
evidence of impaired fertility or harm to the fetus due to Ranitidine.
There are, however, no adequate and well-controlled studies in
pregnant women.
Because animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of
human response, this medicine should be used during pregnancy only
if clearly needed.
