Objectives: By the end of the lesson students will be able to: Demonstrate phonological awareness by recognizing spoken alliteration or groups of words that begin with the same spoken onset or initial sound. Demonstrate and apply phonetic knowledge by identifying and matching the common sounds that letters represent. Learn basic vocabulary heard during classroom instruction and interactions. Demonstrate listening comprehension of increasingly complex spoken language by responding to questions and requests commensurate with content and grade-level needs. Demonstrate and apply spelling knowledge by spelling high-frequency words from a research-based list. Develop handwriting by accurately forming all uppercase and lowercase letters using appropriate directionality.
