New Women’s Roles in 1920’s Women’s new roles were the most apparent changes in the 1920's after World War I. They were no longer just homemakers. Women also earned the right to vote, had become politically involved, gone to college, and entered the workforce in respectable jobs such as teachers, nurses, and social workers. http://valabramov96.blogspot.com/2013/03/new-roles-for-women.html http://www.newstatesman.com/education/2014/02/invisible-prejudice-that%E2%80%99s-holding-female-teachers-back http://lgreen3.blogspot.com/2012/03/frederick-douglass.html
Prohibition Prohibition in the 1920's resulted in an increase in crime. Alcohol had been outlawed in 1919, however, gangsters like Al Capone found ways to make alcohol, transport it and sell it to nightclub owners who ran speakeasies in Chicago. Enforcing the law was a challenging back then, because Capone and others associated with him, bribed officials or threatened officials to keep quiet. http://www.keyword-suggestions.com/MTkyMHMgcHJvaGliaXRpb24/
