Mission of NAM Aimed at augmenting AYUSH sector in terms of health services, educational infrastructure, drugs quality control and sustainable development of medicinal plants.
NATIONAL AYUSH MISSION The Government of India has launched the National AYUSH Mission in 2014 with the objectives of: Providing cost effective AYUSH Services through upgrading AYUSH Hospitals & Dispensaries, & co-location at PHCs, CHCs and DHs Upgradation of AYUSH Educational Institutions Upgradation of ASU & H Pharmacies, Drug Testing Laboratories & strengthening of ASU & H drug enforcement mechanism Supporting the cultivation of medicinal plants to provide sustained supply of quality raw-materials
Components of NAM A. Core/Essential activities AYUSH Services Co-location at PHC, CHC, DH (Set Mission Target) Stand Alone AYUSH Hospital &Dispensaries Upgradation . Setting up of upto 50 bedded AYUSH Hospital. Supply of Essential Drugs Public Health Outreach Activity, AYUSH Gram, School Health Program AYUSH Educational Institutions Upgradation of UG and PG Educational Institutions Setting up of new Educational Institutions in Govt. sector. ASU&H Drugs Quality Control Strengthening of State Pharmacies of ASU&H Strengthening of State Drug Testing Laboratories. Supporting the Drug Enforcement Mechanism Medicinal Plants
Flexible Components of NAM AYUSH wellness Centres including Yoga & Naturopathy Telemedicine. Sports-Medicine through AYUSH Innovations in AYUSH Research & Development in areas related to Medicinal Plants Voluntary Certification Scheme: Project based IEC activities Market Promotion, Market Intelligence and buy back interventions Re-imbursement of testing charges Crop Insurance
Salient features Focus to new initiatives: Preventive and Promotive Healthcare, School Health Programme Public Health Outreach Activity, AYUSH Gram, Promotion of health care by way of Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) The resource allocation to the States/UTs based on population, backwardness and performance of the State/UT Building institutional capacity to enhance implementation efficiency and absorption capacity of the States
Central and State Share pattern: Special Category States ( NE States and hilly States of Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand , UT of Jammu and Kashmir):- Grant-in-aid component-90% and State share-10% Other States & UTs with legislature-Centre State sharing pattern:-60% : 40%. UTs without legislature :- UTs without legislature 100% will be funded by the Government of India GIA.

Approval and release of GIA by the Central Government. Drawing of funds from State Treasury-State AYUSH Society. Implementation and UC submission. National AYUSH Mission: Timely Implementation
National AYUSH Mission (NAM) - AYUSH Gram- one village per block is selected for adoption of AYUSH way of life and interventions for health care. 356 units are supported under NAM 15

Expected Outcomes Better access to AYUSH services through increase in number of AYUSH Hospitals and Dispensaries, availability of drugs and providing special attention on preventive and promotive aspects. Improvement in AYUSH education through upgraded educational institutions. Sustained availability of Quality Raw Material for AYUSH systems of medicine. Improved availability of quality ASU&H drugs through increase in the number of Pharmacies, Drug Laboratories and improved enforcement mechanism of ASU&H drugs.
