4. Exam Block – Protocols for Year 10 – Year 12 Students During Exam Block Year 10 students may work from home unless they have a scheduled examination or ongoing work requirements in Applied and Certificate classes. Where an exam clashes with an Applied or Certificate class (at or outside the College), students must attend the examination. Additional expectations of students are outlined below: • Attendance on campus in full school uniform • Attendance at examination room with appropriate equipment no later than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time with appropriate equipment - see approved equipment list for exams on MyMtA : Academics Tile • Students may not leave the College in between examinations scheduled on the same day • Students with one examination scheduled in a day must go directly home for study purposes

5. Approved equipment for all assessments: black or blue pens 2B pencils, sharpener, and eraser Note: 2B pencil is only required for multiple choice questions and drawing graphs or diagrams. Black or blue non-erasable pens must be used for all other written responses. highlighters — students should not highlight their responses but may highlight stimulus or questions when permitted by the supervisor. • a clear plastic ruler water bottle asthma inhaler. You may use a clear plastic container or zip lock bag to carry your equipment if needed. Wired earphones/headphones consistent with the guidelines for academic integrity (Bluetooth enabled earphones/headphones are not permitted) - for identified exams only. Approved Calculators: Only calculators approved for use in assessments are permitted. Scientific calculators must be handheld and solar, or battery powered and be cleared of memory before entering the assessment room

6. Prohibited Items: The items below are prohibited in any assessment room, except if specifically approved as an AARA, or listed as approved subject-specific equipment for an assessment, e.g. for a subject that requires students to use a device or permits the use of a dictionary. • mobile phones • smart watches and fitness trackers • any other electronic device that stores, retrieves, displays, or communicates digital information • correction fluid or correction tape • dictionaries • erasable pens • blank paper, notes, any printed/written material • tissues brought by students. Every assessment room will have tissues available • Lip gloss • School Hat

7. Exam Block – Protocols for Year 10 – Year 12 Students • Where students have not brought necessary equipment, they should seek to borrow equipment from the library, in advance of the start time of the examination. Only where possible, will equipment be provided to students in an examination room and only subject to availability. This may impact the student’s examination outcome. • Students not able to work from home, may work from the iCentre and must sign in and out. • Students who are unwell must have a medical certificate for the day of the examination, confirming that they are incapacitated. Contact must be made with the Dean of Senior Years: Mrs Mansfield. • Students must comply with ‘exam behaviours’ as per the Assessment Policy. These will be read to students as part of the examination process. • AARA students must check their AARA card for their exam accommodations and attend the correct room. 8. Taking time off for the purposes of study prior to the examination block is not permitted. Students must be in attendance for all classes unless they have a medical reason not to be. Students who have not submitted assignments by the due date will lose examination privileges. Please Note: The College will endeavour to reschedule examinations for students who are incapacitated on the day of an examination. 9. Exam expectations Be on time – better still: BE EARLY Be prepared with all your correct equipment NO talking once you enter the exam room LISTEN to the instructions announced by the supervisor (Examination Script) NO mobile phones/smart watches NO sharing of equipment NO distracting others in the exam room Only allowed equipment may be brought into the exam room NO touching or reading of exam papers until told to do so

10. Missed Examination Policy Family holidays, non-urgent appointments, attendance at TAFE are not acceptable reasons to miss published examination periods. Unless special circumstances inhibit a student’s capacity to attend advertised examinations, student’s attendance is expected and compulsory. Special circumstances include: Illness (which is usually prolonged or significant). Illness applications must be supported by a medical certificate Misadventure – e.g. car accident on the way to school Significant family upheaval – e.g. death in the family Suspension An exam clash
