Purpose & Audience Purpose: Help teachers understand how children perceive correction, attention, and connection. Audience: Sunday School Teachers (ages 4–12) Duration: 30 minutes
Part 1: Act Like a Child – Roleplay (10 mins) Divide into pairs/small groups Roleplay scenarios (e.g. not listening, interrupting) Reflect on how child and teacher felt Discuss better responses with empathy
Part 2: Understanding Their Brain (10 mins) Children's brains are still developing Amygdala (emotion) > Prefrontal cortex (logic) Tone and body language > Content Ask: Why might a child act out?
Part 3: I Was That Kid – Reflection (5 mins) Reflect personally: What kind of child was I? What do I wish my teacher knew about me? Invite 2–3 to share with the group
Part 4: Golden Nuggets – Takeaways (5 mins) What is one insight you'll apply in class? Let each person share a short takeaway
