They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow. Colossians 2:19 (NIV)
Question 1 What thought pervades all of today’s texts?
Question 2 Hebrews 10:24 – 25. How can we spur one another on toward love and good deeds?
Question 3 Does going to church, by itself, satisfy the requirement of this command?
Question 4 Ephesians 4:15—16. What does this passage teach us about transformation?
Question 5 Why is it important to note that the body grows as it is “joined and held together”?
Why do you pass when you could shoot? When you pass to another guy and he makes two points, then you run down the court giving high fives – that’s the real thrill.
You are Christ's body—that's who you are! You must never forget this. Only as you accept your part of that body does your "part" mean anything. 1 Corinthians 12:27 (MSG)
Question 6 Ephesians 2:21—22. What does this passage teach us about discipleship?
Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)
We have real power to change because God lives inside of us.
Question 7 In this passage, what is the “dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit”?
God’s “dwelling” in verse 22 is his “temple” in verse 21, and the church is that temple. God lives in us collectively in a way that is different from how he lives in us individually.
Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory – the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father. John 1:14 (NET)
Question 8 Colossians 2:19. What do we learn about following God from this verse?
They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow. Colossians 2:19 (NIV)
Question 9 What is the difference between being held together and going to church?
He has lost connection to the head, from whom the whole body, supported and knit together by its joints and ligaments, grows as God causes it to grow. Colossians 2:19 (Berean Standard Bible)
Question 10 Some sociologists have said there is an epidemic of loneliness in our culture. Why do you think this is?
One-fourth of America’s dinners are eaten while watching television. The average child in the US spends the equivalent of two months a year watching television. Social media has replaced face-to-face friendship with virtual “friends” we don’t connect with at all.
People who are most isolated are three times more likely to die than people with strong relational connections. People with strong social connections, but poor health habits (eating, exercise, smoking, etc.) live significantly longer than those with good health habits but weak social connections
Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got. Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot. Wouldn't you like to get away? Sometimes you want to go Where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same. You wanna be where everybody knows Your name. You wanna go where people know, people are all the same, You wanna go where everybody knows your name.
